I am not happy kirk got shot but I also am not happy that the white house put the flag half mast when they didn't for carter and it is reminiscent of the pardons and push to white wash jan 6.  It wasn't lowered for the Virginia politicians that were killed.  They went back and forth on maccain with the flag.

Flags were flown at half mast for carter for 30 days as tradition, except one day, inauguration day. This was the first time inauguration day happened during a presidential mourning period and trump order them to full staff for that day.

Honestly 30 days is way too much.

Jan 6 was a mostly peaceful protest.

Not sure what virginia politicians you are referencing.

McCain was a war monger who never saw a country he didn't want to bomb.

The thirty days is in the flag code.  The till burial is the tradition.  Trump does not care about tradition unless pushed really hard.  Having to push hard gets his point across as to respect he shows and to who.

So far, trump is threatening canada, panama, greenland, panama.  He is siding and his people sometimes voting with russia and north korea. He has threatened mexico, venezuela and brazil and has bombed iran and the houthi.  Not a discussion of the right and wrong of each though joining the axis of evil is not good but thinking trump is not a war monger would be rich.

He was clearly bothered by it, and you can hear it in his tone of voice.

oh, yes. i'm a "hater" because i choose not to hate-watch something that i know immediately i wouldn't like. flawless logic.

i'm saying i didn't know what his politics were beyond that they were conservative. his voice was annoying to me and i knew that i wouldn't like him. so why the fuck would i listen to him?

i listen to other conservative media. mainly from veterans. i think Jocko Willink is badass and i watch his podcast all the time.

I think the most eye opening part of all of this for me is seeing how many people essentially use these talking head grifters as their personal gurus, idolize them and consume endless amounts of their content

Not just on the right, but seeing all the ones on the left pop up in the youtube algorithm too, and how much engagement they're getting

Then you click any of the videos and it's all just culture war bullshit and ragebait. That's what tens of millions of people are getting pumped into their heads constantly, on top of all the boomers and their cable news brain drains

It seems like none of the popular ones talk much at all about actual policy and actual things people can do to better the political landscape and push for better policy/less corruption. Just absolute nonsense, and from everything I've seen Kirk was amongst the worst of the worst offenders
