Just a fun little grow with some spent cakes... 50/50 composted cow manure/straw fake "cowpie"

Such a classic looking cube, smiled when I saw a few of the pointed tops show themselves.  While definitely not a serious grow for size or volume, I was pleasantly surprised when I cleaned up the stem bases before drying...

Thinking a couple of those pointy ones need cloning, dang that's dark!

I got everything I want from x7x+
From ms I was getting 5 to 6 ounces dry or around 6 percent dry weight , now I'm pulling around 8+ ounces with clones between 9 and 10 percent
Speed is better than most with an average of a 10 day pins showing to 8 with these clones ( I still dunk my grain spawn fight me on it )
Grain spawn colonization is average which is fine
My problem has been harvest...these root deep and tare subs up with a pseudo casing layer and love to grow sideways in clusters leaving craters if not careful
There is a remedy for it though and it starts on your plates , A reason they do this is because of the tendancy for thick mycelium , those nice ropey plates we all love to look at.
I've been along this journey of new strains for many decades and can say with confidence that just because those plates look sexy doesn't mean much lol...
If u go through archives you'll find something called cronic-r's hope tub. This came along during pastys rustywhyte adventure and we ( by we I mean a lot of old heads from me to spitball to faht to the late n great muda ) spent alot of nights discussing and testing shit to push the limits
One thing you'll notice about rustywhyte is the ease of harvest...another thing you'll notice is the thin looking plates and this is no coincidence nor no mistake . When harvesting u can grab handfuls and barely take up any sub
This is my goal with x7x+

There's the maketi I'm working on along with rustywhyte , you'll see it's that whispy growth most are scared of that's actually my goal because if I'm gonna pluck 8+ ounce tubs ...I don't wanna do it one at a time and spend 30 seconds on every mushroom

--------------------
It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn
I'm tired do me a favor

It would bee cool if you can select x7x+ to be easier to harvest.

I just chop them with scissors, flip the top upside down into a new liner and grow on the old bottom as top (after a good bit of water)

Works fine for 2 flushes. I usually don't do longer than that with any varieties. Seems like diminishing returns after 2. Though I know a lot of people go further.

Instead of scissors, in the above idea, you can get an inexpensive electric turkey carving knife and just clear cut them like a forest. Leaves some stumps but it's easy to grow more so I don't consider it wasteful.

Here's one for 27 dollars on eBay, I've seen them cheaper at Salvation Army. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304858764530

I put down x7x+ spores from Nektar61's giveaway (thanks again!) to agar - they germinated within 2 days, are growing faaaast and looking good! I'm really pleased as I haven't had much luck with spores up to now, these are invincible 🤩🤩🤩

That's really pretty. I grabbed that pic the other day for my collection of x7x+ shroom family photos.

Is that the same one that you took pix of after it splurted  a lot spores all over? (typical for those fuckers)

Black metal shrooms. Heavy spore flow is one of the things I selected for. First few gen was just biggest / fastest growing. then I added in spore drop to narrow it down for the last 6 gens.

"They're so black, that it's like, how much more black can they be?

And the answer is: none."

It's weird. I think of cube shrooms as the same, same chemicals, jsut different amounts.

But there is science talk about maybe shrooms have some kind of "entourage effect" like pot has with chemicals other than THC.
https://entheonation.com/blog/entourage-effect-magic-mushrooms/

I've grown and taken 11 different cube varieties, and none of them have this pleasant body load.

I'm thinking x7x+ might have a little more than usual of the MAOIs that all shrooms have in extremely low amounts naturally.
