Japan's Government Developed a Dating App * 1

Saw this interesting news article recently: https://www.businessinsider.com/tokyo-government-launching-dating-app-marriage-rates-population-decline-japan-2024-6

Toyko's government developed and recently released a Dating App to help boost falling marriage and birthrates in the country. I was recently looking at dating apps in the US and they are expensive! One was $20 a week!

A free, government-sponsored dating app sounds kinda nice at the moment. If your countries government had a free dating-app, would you try it out?

If it's free, and has no weirdos on it.

But I still prefer meeting people organically, in real-life settings.

Yeah, it'd be awesome. They're mainly doing it to weed out all the scammers. The problem with online dating is that 90%+ of the profiles and replies are pig butchering schemes, mainly targeting women.

Want to know why you didn't get any replies to the women you messaged? It's because they got 100+ messages from seemingly insanely attractive successful people, who were all actually pig butchering schemes and scammers. So you end up with women not being able to connect with any real men and men not being able to connect with women.

Instead, Tokyo's idea is to actually verify each account in person, including verifying their income and job so there isn't any cat fishing either. They also make sure that the person isn't cheating. Honestly it's a great idea. The dating market is fucked, so this would help.

The low birth rate is definitely concerning but this seems like 3 steps away from state assigned partnerships.

I was thinking about that.

What if theres an option for an auto matchmaker where the government app chooses you "should" marry. Sorta like that show Married at First Sight. Thatd be pretty interesting and may help with marriages for people who are too shy or scared to try themselves?

Tbh I'd rather be in a state-sanctioned arranged marriage than be described as "profitable" by tinder execs if I just cannot get a woman to stay with me.
