Closeup bud, almost ready for harvest.

Extraction.


The extract's made using a Merlin Drizzle 400.  Sadly, it was a startup company & they couldn't make the units cheaply enough to be commercially viable.  Lovely bit of kit though - put weed in one chamber, isopropyl alcohol in another, press a button and 2 hours or so later it delivers full spectrum extract in the collection jar.  It has additional functions for heat to mix, decarboxilation, and distillation of used alcohol.

Nice grow, what strain?  Structure reminds me of c99 or trainwreck.

Interesting extraction kit. It is unfortunate that the on the shelf iso in the states seems to all be denatured and leaves a horrid taste in the extracted product.

Do you vape/dab the extract or use it for oral/edible dosing?

Have you ever vacuum distilled the crude iso extract?

Yep. You can make shatter with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Or ethanolโ€ฆ
look up โ€œquick was isopropyl hash oilโ€

You also have to freeze precipitate the fats out. It can end up okay but it seems to lose most of the terpenes.

I think a lot of distillate is made with alcohol some places because theyโ€™re not allowed to use butane or propane.

Yes, iso and ethanol both are commonly used solvents to create crude extracts which are vacuum distilled.
As mentioned it can be difficult in the usa to get iso that is pure, but pure ethanol is more readily available.
Either way these solvents are safer and easier to work with than gaseous solvents like liquified butane or co2.
As you point out in some jurisdictions using gaseous solvents is prohibited or at least you are prohibited from off gasing, not that you would want to given the cost of liquified gases. End result is you need closed loop systems with reclaimation and recompression capability. Those systems are a lot higher cost and trickier to run than alcohol based extractions which just require a vat and some way to evap the solvent.
This is why the industry moved to distillate en masse for vape carts and edibles.
Co2 oil is now a premium product as is good shatter/batter/wax :shrug:

QWISO can be very pure. Formula: 0or it can be pretty dirty as well.depend on what you using to make it with. trim\scraps. I like to take bud that has just got done curing. I do not break it up I leave it intact the way it is. Do in small amounts at a time, it turns out better.  Freeze overnight with my 99% alcohol and all the jars and filters I am going to use. Put in jar cover in alcohol. Stir gently with spoon for 20 seconds. Pour through a Siv into bleach free coffee filter. Put the jars back in the fridge let them drip. Put in dish let evaporate with fan on them until they ready. I don't care for cooking the alcohol off, it seems to turn out better if you let it evaporate on its own.

It's 4 plants of Green House Seeds Blue Haze x Gelato 41 AUTO, grown in an Alien Deep Water system.  I've got a photoperiod Runtz x Wedding cake on the way in an NFT system, but it's a month off thanks to the time switch for the lights malfunctioning (I didn't notice so it stayed in veg for 3 weeks longer than intended).

I'm in the UK and rather than using the 'standard' ISO I use for sanitising, I got 5L of 99.98%% from a laboratory supplies site.

I only use it for trim as it seems such a waste to dump it on the compost heap.  I use the heat & mix function to dilute it a bit (it's more like resin than oil) with Wax Liquidiser and use in a vape.

After the soak, the machine pumps the alcohol into the distillation chamber which heats it to 45C at <200mbar.  The evaporated alcohol goes back into the ISO chamber and gets reused.

It's a full spectrum extraction and as long as the trim's dried & cured, there's minimal chlorophyl.

The only issue I've had was that the vacuum pump failed, but I got a replacement unit with the same model code from AliExpress for ยฃ45.

Beautiful.  I usually run a couple outdoors, but the climate doesn't suit them and they're always sub-par.

It's gotta be the prettiest I've grown





The pink haired phenos smell so so wild. A small one has extra bright pink hairs n buds and smells like candy bubblegum berry skunk.
I hope they finish up soon

Almost through the smoke but taking a break for a minute. Traditional hashish in my Indian lapis lazuli chillum with a pinch of Petersonโ€™s University Flake pipe tobacco. Itโ€™s a Virginia-burley blend with a slight fruity top dressing. The hash is all from one strain: Blonde Mazar i Sharif.

Update: finished the bowl and cleaned the pipe. Now I have some aloeswood incense burning, Iโ€™m sipping a cup of black coffee, and Iโ€™m about to grab a slice of blueberry pie. Life ainโ€™t bad tonight.
