I use thunderbird version 0.6 (20040502) - it does not have any sort of built-in antivirus at all nor have I heard of this before. I highly doubt the mozilla developers would ever consider it.

what antivirus are you using? is it scanning your outgoing email? if so, try disabling it and see if this continues. have you done a full antivirus scan lately? Maybe its some weirdo spoof thing. does your pop3 server have some sort of scanning going on?

Try posting in the Thunderbird help forums - they should answer all your questions.

oh, and Outlook sucks. Thunderbird rules - good choice

Yes, it sounds like an external program, not Thunderbird. I've used it for about a month, and I've never encountered this. BTW I'm quite happy with Thunderbird!

aight this aint 100% on topic...but people using thunderbird (or anything else, really, that is always running but doesnt go the systray) use this: RBTray this will allow you to minimize the app and it'll go to the tray.
