That'd be a decent thing for them to do. They might also just be smarter then the rest of the people around them who are creating ideal conditions for covid to spread. Some people are still trying to do the right thing and be responsible member of society, and masking up has been part of that the whole time despite the constantly change shitty advice that the CDC can't seem to disentangle from politics. I usually reserve judgement until I hear how people talk about covid and masks. It's pretty easy to see who the idiots are, and responsible people are usually happy to talk with other responsible people. The smart ones are usually quiet and better protected than the people who are just following instructions.

I'm still confused about why people throw hissy fits about the idea of wearing a reasonably comfortable N95. They're super effective if you wear them properly. You can be in the middle of a crowd like that with pretty much no risk of infection if you're wearing an N95 and keeping it in place. I was recently working around a guy who tested positive for covid, and he was wearing a KN95 while I was wearing an N95. That's about as safe as it gets for covid exposure. I was breathing double filtered air, and nobody else in the office got sick (or reported it at least). I was a few feet away from the guy in enclosed spaces for a couple weeks with no trouble. I still haven't gotten covid, and I've been around plenty of confirmed cases. Vaccines are nice for risk reduction if you get infected, but a well-fitted HEPA mask is still better at preventing exposure if you learn to use it properly.
