I think that's the big thing a lot of you are missing

We or at least I am not arguing that vaccines can be great, this issue is about whether or not the government should be able to force it on all of us.

Yea yea I know the greater good blah blah blah, koods will talk about how governments have done way worse in the past during pandemics blah blah, fuck that.

Governments lie, governments do shitty things to their people, it has happened more times than we can count it will happen again.

I'm not saying this vaccine is some crazy conspiracy, I'm saying that what about when the next day comes that government tries to scare us into doing something.  The right to choose whether or not you want a medical procedure is something that some of us value.

You are repeating the lie that the vaccines don’t work. This is a lie that has convinced a significant portion of the population to not get vaccinated and these people are now dying at a record pace. You are participating in the campaign of disinformation that is killing thousands of people day. It’s revolting.

Yes I am though, not everyone who owns a restaurant is like you.

My employer has no problem w my vaccination status.

What about the misinformation coming from the agencies we are supposed to trust?

You seem to think that just because some people have chosen to follow these restrictions that it is somehow now the law of the world.

Supreme court shut down the mandate, remember?  I work for a huge company and face no consequences for my vaccination status.  You tell me the data I post/ the numbers in my home county are irrelevant well so is your very narrow worldview.  Pennsylvania does not require a mask or vax card to go into any establishment and the same is true for many other states, I think I saw that you're from d.c. but it feels like you live in another world.

We have a long precedence of mandating vaccinations for the greater good.  Why is this different?  Were these mandates always wrong?  Should the world still suffer the scourge of smallpox for someone's "personal freedom". 

In the US we have many laws that require specific conduct entirely so as to ensure a safe and orderly world.  I have rarely, if ever, seen someone complain about these laws, let alone insinuate they are linked to some nefarious scheme of mass control.

What I think is happening is that the pandemic, the disease itself is highly random.  One person gets it and doesn't have symptoms, another dies after a 30 day ICU stay, and yet a third gets mild symptoms, but has debilitating long term effects that are poorly understood.  People are trying to make sense of this.  Since this is a major event, it therefore must have an equally consequential cause (global conspiracy).  The reality is it is just shit luck, the wrong zoonotic virus jumped to a human, and was then able to successfully propagate against all odds, voila pandemic.  That explanation is wholly unsatisfying for an event that figuratively brought the world to its knees, but it is the explanation.

You can't cry and shutdown just because politicians and the media are lying. That's always been the status quo, and it's a plain stupid reason not to get vaccinated. All the data around the world shows that vaccination is safe and effective. You'd have to be completely illiterate not to see that it's the best option at this point, both on a public health level, which is a makes it a social responsibility, and a personal health level. Widespread vaccination is preventing vital resources like the hospital system from collapsing, and it's also been preventing transmission in the population, though less effectively now that omicron is spreading like mold in an uncles ben's grow bag.

I haven't see anybody provide anything close to a coherent argument for refusing vaccination. So far it's all been a bunch of selfish debased paranoid whining with no coherent rationale or arguments. Nobody so far has been able to clearly explain their motivations. At the very least "choosing" to not get vaccinated doesn't seem to have any intellectual, moral\ethical, or logical basis, and there are pretty strong arguments for getting vaccinated on all those fronts.

Speaking of Pennsylvania, you had more deaths yesterday than any other state. 325 in one day and approaching record levels for the entire pandemic. Your state isn’t doing well.

I can't believe there are humans out there refusing a vaccine just so they can act like a petulant child. That's pathetic. Millions of people are forced to wear a condom every day. I was going to use the brothel example too, but I see Koods already did. Also if you know you have an STD and don't wear one / inform the partner, you are going to jail too. The government has laws mandating people use condoms.

The anti vaxxer trucker convoy in Canada is going to our capital and has made the bug spreaders quite uppity* lately. The funny thing is the USA brought in its own mandate, no one enters, essential or not, without a vaccine. So there is nothing Canada could do, besides allows unvaxxed Americans in, which isn't going to happen. Its >10 percent of truckers anyway, no one is going to starve. High potential for violence as right wing anti vaxxers want to have their own Jan 6/21 event here. Reading these people's posts its all the same racist hate shit, if I was an anti vaxxer I would run the opposite way but this is the sinking ship they are jumping on.
