Honestly if they did more long term research on the flu they'd find all sorts of long term effects from that. Covid is exponentially worse in most ways so the long term damage is a lot more common and insidious. Viruses are nasty things

There's lots of this already turning up. prolonged infection is suspected in some of the long covid. last thing I read, there was still some viral RNA being found in people that had long covid, suggesting active replication of the virus. There are definitely allllll kinds of weird autoimmune conditions showing up after infection too. Some of those can do more damage than the primary infection, some go away after a while, and some leave lasting damage. Covid has a broad tissue tropism, it can have major effects on lots of different organ systems, and it's prevalence is way high, so there's a good chance of it interacting with other infections agents or medical conditions to create new illnesses that haven't been seen before.

But the thing of it is, the scientific community and the general populace is communicating all of this as "long-term covid", when in fact this is not at all the long term because we aren't even, timewise, in the medium term. This is all still introductory or short term covid effects


I'll repeat again and again and again. Just wait for the truly longer-term, as Asante suggests, ten years, effects of covid.

Initially it was noticing/feeling out of place chills, a day or two later it was having aches in places that hadn't recently undergone anything to make them ache. Yesterday & today it was the odd coughing fits that would leave me a bit hungry for air, the random persistent back/joint pain, w/ gen malaise + fatigue + stomach/bowel irregularities + congestion / sinus pressure + sweaty / feverish moments...  :syringe::sadyes::syringe:

also, bc you are free to speculate, some further speculation, some in the medical community have speculated that advese effects from vacination will later on be blamed on the long term effects of covid-19.

a viral etiology has been proposed for almost every autoimmune disease and many cancers.  there are correlations and evidence, yet no one can yes, yes this is the exact cause and this is the exact effect.

my mom tested positive for covid-19 the other day.  i needed a car ride today, so i was in the car with her, both of us unmasked, for over an hour each direction.
