Alaska Sunset

I just got back from vacation in Alaska and I got some great sunset pictures. Hope you enjoy!







I resized in paint so I could be under my upload limit. They look a little digital because of it, sorry....

Alaska is an awesome place, I really want to move out there. It is comforting to know that there are still places that we haven't destroyed yet.

unfortunately, a current decision is being made by the bush administration (i think) over whether to start drilling for oil in alaska or leave it alone

if they touch alaska im going to be so upset

I'm pretty sure he already okay'd logging of alaska's rain forests.. though I did wonder, when I heard that, just how much rain alaska's rain forests get...

Logging has always been going on in Alaska. Rain Forest? Not it Alaska. Alaska gets a lot of rain during their summer. They recently had a bug/disease that wiped out a lot timber in Alaska. I'm pretty sure it was their spruce that got hit, anything over 6" in diameter is dead or dieing. But that is just mother nature keeping things going.

Takes me back to when I was there...and yes there is rain forest in Alaska. Try to picture giant old trees, trunks covered in moss. Wild blueberry bushes line bear-worn paths around a lake. Salmon halves lie strewn about, testaments to the sharpness of the fisherman's teeth.

Mountains overshadow it all. Sheep are visable as white dots, moving about as the graze in alpine meadows. From the base of the mountain, a glacial stream feeds into the lake. Cold and milky blue with ancient dust.
