Anyone live in Denver? Just moved/long term residents.
    #26033879 -

I’m thinking about heading over next spring and was wondering how it is.  Are jobs around?  Property prices?  Mass influx of druggies living in tents and trashing the place?  All those basic concerns, what’s the scoop?

I’ll be interested to see if due to the decrim if crackheads like crackbaby start becoming a problem stealing your vcr etc.  What the dilly yo?

Fuck Denver. Tried moving there this time last year here is my conclusion:

The jobs are either minimum wage or Ph. D jobs. There are jobs around but don't expect anything good unless you're in a trade or a doctor or specialized in anything.

Property prices are insane unless you go south to the desert. That is where my baby daddy got 5 acres for 2,500 bucks.

So, rent there for a one bedroom that is decent is typically at minimum 1,200 bucks. However the pay is the same as I get paid here in Hershey PA where rent for a three bedroom house can be 900. (hence why I came back)

There is def a larger amount of homelessness and travelers in the area however Denver has it down pretty good and people are pretty kind and open to them.  It is a good area for individuals like this.

But, expect everyone to either be really too high to function or busy riding bikes and climbing the mountains.

Winter is also hard too.

Yeah that’s pretty much the answer I expected unfortunately.

Are these decrim laws and weed etc Denver only or is it Co as a whole?

You won't be allowed to grow, but if you're caught with them you'll get minimum consequences.

It is still illegal so don't get caught.

Try Oakland. The legal situation is similar to Denver, and the weather is a bajillion times better. You'll want to have some education to land a job that pays enough for you to pay rent. But no worries, excellent community colleges and best-anywhere universities are nearby.

Oh, and you can forage for mushrooms in the parks.

Will you be buying or renting?

If buying, get in as soon as you can, it’s a bull market out here with no signs of letting up.

If you’re looking to rent, I own and rent out several different properties across the Fort Collins/ Loveland area if you’re looking to settle that far north.

Damn, wish I knew you last year. That area is nice. I prefer it over Denver metro areas.

OK, I moved here in Oct. 2014. My rent on a decent 1 br was 950. You can find 1br apts for under 1000, but it's in aurora, not the best, but not as bad as people here think/say it is. (they nicknamed it saudi aurora, pretty shitty if you ask me). Aurora has a very mixed neighborhood of many different people, but the rent seems to be cheaper. I found a 1br, separate br with a door, pool, and laundry room for 785 or 895, can't remember, but they are out here.

The closer to the downtown area, the higher the rent, just like every where else. Thornton, littleton, morrison, co springs etc...will have cheaper rents in certain places. Just look very closely and use the map of the state and zoom in on the street satellite pics of the neighborhoods. You will find something reasonable if you're not a picky motherfucker! Just like any other city/town/state.

The winters are nothing compared to PA I'm sure, and the worst storm is usually over in a few days, and then the sun comes out and it melts it off the roads, and dries up! It's pretty amazing. Beautiful summers because no matter how hot it gets in the daytime (which is NOTHING compared to Texas) it ALWAYS cools off in the night, period, like within an hour or 2 of the sun going down.

(Bigworm is good people too!)

It's an amazing fabulous great place to live and I love it!

Don't let them scare you! Yes it can be expensive, but look around the outskirts and you'll find something. Plus look at what you get!

Yeah man, it would be nice to not fear felony incarceration for some smoke.  The state I currently reside in hasn’t changed shit for laws, not one iota..

Now that I have some names I want to check the map and get my bearings.  It helps to now have some places to stick thumbtacks and start building a mental picture.  So far I’ve been to Estes Park way back in the day so it’s pretty much all uncharted territory at the moment.

The Denver has an interesting combo of rural-industrial and dense urban area. Oh and lots of houses. The layout is quite perplexing.

Look around a LOT. There is affordable housing (depends on what you want/need and can live in). Some people bitch because the apts/condos downtown or near it aren't under 900 a month for a 1 br, lol.

I like to stick to the outskirts, my city living days are behind me if I have any say in the matter.  Getting outta there is worth any extra bit of driving I would have to do, so that works in my favor
