Just kidding he hasn’t said anything.

Detained US citizen Paul Whelan was in Moscow for a wedding, his brother says

(CNN) A US citizen and corporate security director detained in Russia on accusations of spying is a retired Marine who was in Moscow for a wedding, his twin brother said Tuesday.

Paul Whelan, 48, of Novi, Michigan, was arrested Friday in Moscow on suspicion of carrying out an act of espionage, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has said. His family rejects the accusation.


Apparently he took a picture of the FSB building which happens to be across the street from his hotel.

I wonder how apologetic to Russia his response will be if he ever has one.

You don't think spying is a good reason to detain someone?  It seems like a more compelling a reason than trying to establish good relations with Government officials (Maria Butina).

If they don't have evidence on Whelan, they'll let him go.  If they do, they'll likely exchange him for Butina, though I think spying is a more serious charge.

I don't know whether Paul Whelan is guilty of spying.  What I do know is that koods, Psilynut2, and Enlil don't know either, yet they pretend to somehow know he's innocent.  That's make believe until we know more.

Butina pled guilty. Her presumption of innocence has been rebutted.
