To point #1 I'm not sure, nor am I sure how that relates.

It relates more to Enlil, as he's argued that Theresa May blaming Russia for the Skripal poisoning is proof enough, since he could think of a make believe motive (that the Russians wanted him dead).  It's the very lowest level of evidence.

krypto2000 said:
To #2 yes, do you think it's not evidence? Do you think the FBI should have dismissed that as opposed to investigating it? To me even if they think it along with the steel dossier are both fake they should investigate why they were faked.

That's no more than reasonable suspicion.  If we let Enlil derail this with semantics, there may be some definition somewhere where that counts as proof.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Yes.

No, it is specifically evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt because evidence is a lower standard than proof. Proof is evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Ok, thank you.  My mistake then.

Yes, that's how I use the term, but I also recognize the less specific colliquial use (and the scientific, mathematic, and legal use).

“Did we have evidence in July of '16 that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired to hack the DNC server? “

Nice strawman comey. Nobody is accusing the trump campaign of conspiring to hack the DNC.

We know there was evidence, but your definition of evidence is what most people use to mean proof...

We knoe there was the steel dossier and the australian diplomat off the top of my head. There's a slee of evidence (not proof). You don't start an investigation without evidence.

Enlil or krypto:

- Is Hillary claiming she believes she lost the election as a result of Russian interference due to Trump collusion with Russia evidence?
- Is an Austalian diplomat (Alexander Downer) telling American officials that Papadopoulos told him that a British professor (Joseph Mifsud) told him that the Russian ambassador to the U.K. (Alexander Yakovenko) told him that someone in Russia told him they had dirt on Hillary evidence?

PS - I'm on krypto's side regarding the proof vs evidence discussion.

The criminal act of hacking and releasing the DNC emails changed the outcome of the election. To claim otherwise you would have to argue that less than 1% of democratic voters decided to not vote for hillary or not vote at all. You have to argue that the outrage over DNC corruption expressed within the party had no effect on voters.

I never understood why Clinton was tarnished by the imaginary corruption of the DNC. The DNC hacks revealed the normal machinations of a political party. Wow they scheduled debates on Saturday and one time hillary found out about a question in a debate and some people in an office were hating on Bernie in their private communications.  Bernie lost the primaries. He wasn’t robbed. He understood that going into it that the party had a preferred choice and the power through superdelegates to tip the scales for her.

Yes, people finding out the truth about the DNC may have hurt Hillary.  The question is who gave Wikileaks the emails?  There is no evidence it was Russia, but there is evidence (Assange's own statements) that it was not Russia.  You don't have to tell us "DURRR, I like to make believe Assange preferred Trump" again.  Assange hates anyone who is corrupt.

Some people don't like corruption.  Debbie Wasserman Schultz was even forced to resign as a result.

I missed this reply yesterday. I agree, but it's evidence that then warrants a "reasonable suspicion" no? It's by no means proof/evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, but that's why you open an investigation. We're talking about the merits for opening an investigation, not for convicting someone of the crime.

It's beyond reasonable suspicion. It's at least probable cause.

In other words, there is always doubt.(?)

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Saw a political toon showing Trump giving Putin the gift of Syria for xmas.  Putin said "How'd you know'.

Truth is Trump said troops (spec ops) can operate from Iraq into syria.  Surely that means air support as well, but not clarified.  The war was less about russia and syria than ISIS.  Even though they or someone tried to turn it into that.
