Yeah but that game had no tractors. I want to ship stegosaurus from one ranch to another. Use the dino poop to fertilize my fields.

I managed to download a free copy on the xbox. My son drives around the tractors. It's surprisingly detailed for a farming game. I set up some fields and shit so we just load it up and he harvests the crops and puts it in the silos and then drives around and sometimes he'll want to seed it again. The kid loves tractors and stuff. He always watches them the whole time in the fall when they harvest the fields, he has a bunch of john deere toys too, ect

This would have been my dream game as a child, as the coolest things in the world were tractors and dinosaurs. Now they just need a dinosaur farming game..

I also remember the old flight simulator from the 90s. My grandfather used to play it and the flight combat games as well. It's really sad for me to think that that's all in the past now,.my grandfather is dead even.. life is short. It goes by so quickly. There are kids around now who don't know that we used to have our phones on the wall.

Check out the new Jurassic Park game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/648350/Jurassic_World_Evolution/

It's a sort of remake of the classic JP Operation Genesis which was basically a dino tycoon game where you open a theme park. The original is really old though, been meaning to check out the new one but wanted to wait and see how it turns out.

I actually played the heck out of that lol

Yeah same here, really fun game back in the day. I hope the remake turns out alright, so far it has very mixed reviews and doesn't seem worth the price. But they will no doubt update it a bit at least to fix bugs, and mods could be really cool.

They also made a free Jurassic world zoo tycoon style app game. A few years back. That was also fun.

Dude 1.0 is amazing.  It is soooooooooooooooo much better.  The leaps it made from b18 to 1.0b are bigger then multiple versions before.  You should try it without mods first, because a ton of mods got built in, then you can slowly add them back in for the things that are missing or you want.  A lot of mods are being updated for the 1.0b also.  Tynan added in a framework support so every time he does a new build it the mod makers can update without rewriting or breaking stuff.

I get it though if you have a current game running you're really enjoying, but I highly recommend checking it out.  If you post on the official forums Tynan actually participates, takes suggestions, and does fixes damn near on the fly when they are talked about.  I had some issues with tribal starts with the research stuff, wrote a post about it, and he adjusted the balance the next day.

I hope he keeps updating it for awhile even after it finally leaves early access. It has already come such a long ways but seems like a game worth focusing on for a few more years perhaps. Based on the steam review count Tynan must have made at least 100k or so already which seems great for an indie game.

You never know with early access games but Tynan has done a great job. Haven't checked the forums much myself but the Rimworld subreddit is pretty solid, they have weekly suggestion threads as well as tons of funny comics and people sharing stories/pics from the game.

https://old.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/

I am kind of excited for Rimworld to leave early access though as it may encourage more modders :strokebeard:

There should be a Drug Trip simulator game that masterfully captures the various perceptual qualities of particular substance classes. Entheogens causing a greater propensity for Spiritualized visions, dissociatives giving environments a very 'cel-shaded' characteristic or a more Playstation 1 Crash Bandicoot-esque appearance texture, with various combinations being computed to cause interesting visual renderings.

There would be a myriad cascade of effects to program. It could serve as a more hands-on informative type of research, like an interactive Erowid. Doing Drugs before doing Drugs, the virtual reference point serving to inform subsequent reality adventuring.

Pretty basic but LSDream is kind of the same idea:

It is really abstract though.

Bumped as Rimworld updated and I've been experimenting with mods again :crazy2: The cthulhu cult mod and star wars mods are giving me errors sadly, happens sometimes when you have dozens of other mods turned on...

But it's a lot of fun finding a unique blend of mods, and you can use a ton at once if you are careful. Minor errors don't interfere usually either, the game auto works around most and it will just keep a log of them

There is a mod that allows you to extract DNA from animals and create hybrids  And a ton of other weird ones. There is a mod for vehicles though I haven't tried it yet, and mods that add alien races or various factions from other games or movies.

Arguably one of the best games of all time, I have 600+ hours on steam and it never gets old. You can also change the difficulty from totally peaceful where you can sort of micromanage/AFK your colony as it grows which is great as a background game. Or you can set it hard and even mod in new tougher enemies, it can get brutally hard. It also calculates enemies based on your colonies total value, so as it grows you will get attacked by bigger and tougher groups of enemies. Eventually you will get attacked by armies, and will need different tactics to fend them off:

We are living in a simulation. And the aim of the game is not to build stuff or even to make the world a better place. It is to improve yourself and to get along better with other players in this simulation. Sorry to hijack the thread :O

One of your mods allowing you to put those traps right next to each other?  In vanilla b19(1.0) you can't place em that way anymore.

Rimworld is the seckz though.  It's an amazing game.  I still prefer it vanilla though.  Probably after 1.0 goes stable release and I start to get bored I'll mess with mods.  I prefer doing whacky scenarios.  Going to do a tribe only (no research) caravan run soon and try to make it to the ship and escape with mandatory base moves every 1 or 2 years (undecided).

On Rough or harder.

Not my pic just one of the biggest raid pics I could find.

Never used the traps much myself, I tend to add a bunch of turret mods and make a huge fortress :crazy2:

You should really check out some of the mods! Even just a few at a time to enhance the vanilla experience, like the star wars or cult mods. Hospitality is also cool, lets you recruit guests/visitors and adds a hospitality feature where guests rate you based on your accommodations, and if they enjoy the stay they leave behind gifts and will come back sooner. If they have a bad time they won't come back at all. Can be a bit OP though if you have high social as you can recruit people much faster then normal.

Yeah I was playing with some mods in b18. I just went back to vanilla when the b19(1.0) testing was starting because he was making updates pretty much every day, which meant mods broke every. damn. day. A bunch also did some really funky shit. haha.

I like the sidearms mod, especially with the changes to being forced into melee if the enemy is next to you, though I feel its a little to powerful some times.

I'll most likely check out a ton of other mods once the game hits proper final.  I dont want to run out of stuff and get bored too early.

Some of the combat mods are pretty sweet, you can add a fuckton of weapons or make the combat more realistic with sidearms and other stuff. The "get out of the way" mod is great, makes colonists try and avoid friendly fire

The robot mods are some of my favorites, lets you make hauling/cleaning bots as well as crafters, cookers, emergency response, etc. Really handy to take care of hauling/cleaning and crafting. But there are 4-5 levels of each and they start out pretty weak with low levels in skills.

My main issue with mods is that most of them are super over powered.  Rimworld is already a bit whacky with the way balance works.  One tiny decision can be the difference between game over or ultra base.  I need challenge to stay interested in a game or I get bored.  Most of the mods I use and have used are quality of life stuff because of this.

Like with side arms.  I definitely think there needs to be slightly better melee damage for ranged characters because the way the game is in vanilla the second any rabid animal gets near you, you are fucked, unless its already mid to late game.  I've died a death of a thousand cuts from a single damn bunny before.  Pissed me off to no end. lolol.  With sidearms though it lets you equip things that are far too powerful.  I'd be happy with just a few specific guns, like the bolt actoin for example, to have a bayonet on them to help make up for its slow firing when you get charged.

Bumped for Rimworld Jurrassic Park mods:

There are a few mods that add Dino's, as well as a dino mod for the Genetics mod so you can create dinosaur/animal hybrids! You can tame the Dino's and even ride them around as mounts

Dinosauria
GeneticRim Dinosauria Patch

Just started a new colony but I may have to start over once again so I can add some dino mods :strokebeard:

hahahah wtf.  I was not expecting that to be a thing.

I just started a new naked brutality run as a tribe.  Dev tree has officially moved to 1.0 now.  Final should be coming soon.  For anyone thinking about getting it this is your last chance before paying full price.  Its 30 bucks on steam for "early access" but once it goes final it will probably be 50ish.

That's cool Tynan put out a warning about the price change: Early access price and final price

Very considerate of him, now is definitely the time to buy it. Though the 1.0 release may still be awhile away, or it could come pretty soon.

Anyways yeah dinos are pretty funny, never tried them before but especially combined with the genetics mod it seems like a really awesome way to enhance the animals aspect of Rimworld. Especially now that mounts are a thing, imagine riding around a big ass Dinosaur Elephant hybrid into battle :crazy2:

Side note, I'd totally pay 50-60$+ for Rimworld, especially after another big update. Easily hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay if you get into it, pretty much endless replay value with mods.

It already is so much more worth the price then a lot of hyped AAA releases, which give maybe a few dozen hours of play time in many cases.
