Historic Empires
    #2541015 -

Lately I've become interested in history. Not recent history but the rise and fall of empires.

Can any history majors or knowledgeable persons recommend books on the rise and fall of the Roman empire and the rise and fall of Egypt?

Also I'd like to find some information pertaining to the Eleusian mysteries.

How is 'Music, Art and Literature' the wrong forum for historic literature?

Well I know I can do a web search but lately I've felt I'm lacking in an uknown area. Since I spend a lot of time on the web and haven't read a book in at least a couple years I feel I really need to. So any book recommendations would be great .. main stream or alternative (alternative but not freakin wacko alternative).
