The original is pretty funny, but it was unfinished basically. Ep 1-2 go up until Devilman fights the demon bird lady, then there is a separate 3rd ep called Amon Apocolypse which covers the ending, but they changed the story a lot. For example instead of being devilmen vs devils it becomes Devilman vs Amon, and it still gets very dark/brutal from what I remember...

But yeah the remake is way better, netflix changed the story a lot more in some ways but they also managed to do a pretty faithful adaption overall.

Yeah that was great, kind of similar stories in some ways except Devilman is set in modern times. Been very excited for Season 2 It's taking forever... Was stoked they released all 10 devilman episodes at once. Though after reading the manga it took me awhile to binge through it all knowing what's to come

If you guys like gory anime, check out Drifters. It a 2016 anime done in the same animation style as Hellsing Ultimate and if you haven't seen that, tis a must see.

That is a fair point I just thought it was a strange coincidence. Who knows maybe in the next few thousands years there will be a massive earthquake on 9/11 too

Anyways Devilman is definitely worth checking out, though I'm sure it's not for everyone. But it's a serious classic with a deep message and it's inspired a lot of other fiction.

Honestly I am surprised how popular Devilman Crybaby is so far though, I bet it's partially from netflix sort of "modernizing" it a fair amount. The unique plot seems a bit "far out" for most people though I think netflix made it more "accessible" in a way, by making it more like other anime with lots of sex and other cliches.

I even saw some people say they prefer the adaption over the original manga because it's pretty dated being from the 70's. But I feel like the original is great too just more classic.

Was that one of the guys who rapped for the show? I am not huge on rap these days but I thought they did a pretty good job with that. I saw a lot of praise online for the few rap scenes as well.

Anime + rap is one combo I never would have expected before, but it's become pretty common. Not just hip hop in anime but anime in the hip hop scene.

I feel like anime used to be a nerdy white person stereotype but now all sorts of people are getting into it.

Considering how obscure most anime was even a few decades ago it's pretty crazy seeing how far it's come. In another few decades it will probably get even crazier.

People are spending tons of $ on custom anime paint jobs for their cars and all sorts of funny stuff

Is it coming back? Didn't they already do 2 seasons or more? I never got into it really but if the manga keeps going they will probably do more seasons

I am excited for Overlord S2, shit I think ep 1 already came out! I already caught up on the manga but it's a pretty interesting/unique story and the anime was very well done. Only S1 is dubbed so far though. It's a strange fantasy story set in a VR MMO where the main character becomes trapped by himself, and the AI's/NPC's come alive so he becomes an "overlord" and starts influencing the world.
