Light bulbs
    #2485347 - 03/30/04 10:55 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

What gives?  I've blown out four in the last week, all different fixtures.  Either higher powers are trying to warn me that something is amiss or light bulbs really don't dig my style .  But I've dealt with all the offenders, they won't be causing trouble 'round here no more.

You see, this dribble^^^ is what happens when you urge the lurkers to come out !!!

I like colored light bulbs. Orange light bulbs create a nice ambiance. Green can be nice too sometimes. Maybe you shold try lower wattage bulbs or candles.

I've always noticed that lightbulbs tend to blow out in bunches. Even ones in entirely different parts of the house that get used for far different times.

It's because every time the economy needs a boost the government sends a shock through your house that explodes all the bulbs. I really don't even understand why lightbulbs blow out - you don't see many other electronics that after a few months spontaneously explode.

Well I wouldn't really call a lightbul a peice of electronics... :smirk:

Lighbulbs burn out because the filament is constantly degrading (burning) while the bulb is on. Eventually it gets to a point where it is too weak to stand the stresses of being turned on (where it heats up very fast) and it breaks.

I've heard that they made lightbulbs which didn't burn out (which to me seems very plausible) but the lightbulb companies bought out the idea. But I've also heard you can make LSD from oranges and get high off banana peels so who knows what's BS.

Maybe the watts are too high. idk. But I think it is a sign to redesign your house so that there are alot of candles. That would be sweet.
