Re: New Buckethead album! [Re: musiclover420]

He just put out another super epic Pike:

Buckethead - Pike 264 - Poseidon

He has a lot of ocean/ water themed ones it seems. I have been slowly trying to collect all his older stuff as well and found a few gems like this baby:

Buckethead - Pike 166 - Region

Region may be my new favorite, its funkytastic with some seriously rocking classic stuff. From the first few notes it's just so damn groovy :awesomenod:

Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Buckethead has been on a break sadly, was hoping for a B-day album on the 13th but he has slowed down. Surely his next release will be extra epic though.

Anyways I just made a mix of some of my favorite relaxing buckethead songs for anyone interested:

Buckethead - Relaxing Mix

1: The Flooding Of Pain 0:00 (pike #32 Rise Of The Blue Lotus track 02)
2: Pike 78 Track 01 10:10 (untitled)
3: Pike 78 Track 04 19:10 (untitled)
4: Relic 30:25 (pike 263 track 02)
5: Forever Lake 34:26 (Pike 129 track 01)
6: Railroad Trail 41:48 (Pike 129 track 03)
7: Fastpass 49:05 (Pike 231 track 01)

A few of the songs I have used to get to sleep on occasion though they can still be a bit intense, they are some of his most smooth and relaxing stuff though.

Working on an epic mix now of some of his most intense and beautiful songs, will post it later when it's uploaded.

He's earned a break by now. I would like to see him do more collaborations. I was just listening to a shin terai album for the first time and it was really awesome.

Yeah I can't blame him, I am surprised he made it so long doing weekly epic releases

I haven't gotten into the Shin collabs as much but I really love his work with Travis Dickerson, especially Dragons of Eden. That's up there for my favorites.

I secretly dream of one day collaborating with him, hopefully I get the chance :tongue2: I need to practice and record more first though...

I haven't heard that before. His catalog is so huge I've barely scratched the surface, but have been listening since crime slink scene.

I dream of just meeting him and talking to him.

You play guitar right? Are you in a band or have you recorded anything? I also play.

I have slowly binged through a decent chunk of his pikes but still have a long ways to go

Crime slunk scene is epic, I put a few songs from it in the next mix I am working on.

I play guitar mainly and a few other random things, been slacking on recording though. Not in any bands either but I know a few people I might do something with eventually. Been trying to practice more and think about the direction I want to take.

What kind of stuff do you play? We live in a great time for making music, there are tons of awesome free programs. I really need to start experimenting more, I downloaded a couple hundred free VST instruments and effects and have only tried a few

Glad to see too many Buckethead fans! for the last 4 years I've been listening to Buckethead daily ... He's so prolific that I don't need to listen to any other musicians ... This guy is a god! He does everything and never failed to amaze me ... He once even released to pikes in the same day, How is that even possible??!!

I play rock / progressive metal but my style has changed and it sounds less like metal. I still use some weird time signatures and weird effects and trippy production tricks when I can. I recorded about 5 songs on my own, but been playing with a band in the past 2 years or so. We've played about a dozen shows and have about 8 or so songs we've recorded (and re recorded).

I use ableton as my daw. Superior drummer is the only plug in I actually use. We switched over to recording live drums, but I still use superior drummer for writing and recording a rough demo to show the band ideas. Basically I'm trying to get my recording / production skills up so I can make pro sounding songs at my house.

If you want to hear our band look up Vya on SoundCloud or Facebook.

He has a great fan base it seems. If you read comments on his albums they are almost always from super positive people often talking about how buckethead has improved their lives :awesomenod:

I still like to listen to other random stuff but I always come back to BH, he has so much music you could exclusively listen to him your whole life and not get bored

Rock is a lot of fun, I tend to gravitate more towards jazz and funk but I love playing with distortion and some metal style stuff :tongue2: prog metal is the best, pretty much the only "metal" I listen to these days and 95% is buckethead :crazy2: I love strange time signatures and effects. One of my favorite things about prog rock are all the abstract timings and sounds.

I will look you guys up after I make some coffee and play with my dog a bit, she is crazy. Live drums really are the best but you can do some cool stuff with digital drums these days as well. I want to get a small kit eventually when I have the space. Home studios can be great these days, I really need to work on my production skills as well.

This was my first Buckethead experience. Bonnaroo #1 with Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains.
Good sweaty times.

Pithlit: sentient drugs, now that is an idea ...

OneMoreRobot: Idea? It's a fuckin' reality. You know Salvia? Nigga stole my TV.

He has done some awesome collab projects! I heard something vague about an album with  Bootsie Collins awhile back but have yet to see anything else about it.

Some of his stuff with Travis Dickerson is also funkytastic, Travis is a producer/ multi instrumentalist so they do some far out stuff. Lots of keys/ synth and random cool stuff.

Guys, buckethead did his first podcast interview ever. You guys really need to check it out. It's almost an hour long between him and his therapist. He revealed a lot in this and I won't spoil it but he dropped a bombshell.
