I've become nocturnal
    #24015126 - 01/16/17 03:48 PM (7 years, 14 days ago)

Due to some unexpected circumstances that spurred a shift in my sleep cycle, I've become legitimately nocturnal. The past 4 or 5 days I've woken up around 5pm, when the sun is already down, and I can't fall asleep till 5-7am. Its a terrible feeling to be truthful. I really need to get myself back on a regular cycle. I work from home, and I've still been getting stuff done, but its just an unsettling feeling being awake when practically no one else is around.

It's started to make me feel kind of depressed and anxious. I don't know how to describe it but I almost feel like I've started to develop some very minor psychotic symptoms. Maybe its because I spend almost my entire day not talking to a single person, or because of severely low vitamin D levels, or the excessive amount of time on the computer, but either way this is not good.

I'm debating on whether it would be better to knock myself out tonight, sleep for as long as I can, then just stay awake the rest of the day (even though I'll probably only stay asleep for 6-7 hours tops). Or, stay awake all night which will definitely ensure me being tired by a normal time tomorrow.

I have been in a similiar situation off and on for awhile now.

For one start taking some vitamin D if you aren't getting much if any sun.

2 I have bad luck trying to stay up all night and get to sleep early. Sometimes it works but even then I have trouble staying on schedule once I flip it back to normal.

Sadly when I sleep in to 12-2 or even later I have no chance of getting to sleep early even if I try and sedate or tire myself out...

So pulling all nighters is the only thing that works for me really. Awhile back I managed to not get to sleep 2 nights in a row though and woke up feeling like shit when I finally crashed  just from coffee/ kratom too, though staying up was what really made me get sick clearly. So it can be risky but allnighters can work if you do it right, just be careful. I learned that the hard way sadly.

I honestly feel more depressed/ anxious when I have a regular schedule sometimes as I am a bit of a hermit so I don't see too many people anyways

Being up all night is very peaceful IMO, you can do whatever you want generally. Meditating or just getting baked and gaming/ vegging on tv is great.

It sucks being a nightowl in the fall though as it gets dark at 4pm here so even when I wake up a 1-3 I get very very little light if it is even sunny :shakefist:

I know what your saying, I'm the exact same way. I'm a bit of a hermit myself and I love gaming for extended periods of time. Think I'd like this schedule more if I could smoke lol, but unfortunately I'm applying for other jobs right now so thats a no go

For most of this year I slept from 3am-11am, which I was totally cool with. But since shifting from 3-11am to 7am-5pm, in combination with the sun setting much earlier, its just making me feel bad. Definitely gonna start taking some Vit D. Probably gonna end up pulling an all nighter at the end of this week to get it normalized

Maybe look into kratom if you haven't already. It has a lot in common with cannabis IMO and I honestly prefer it if some ways. It is also very medicinal and because people don't smoke it like cannabis I feel like you get the most  out of it medicinally especially if you can stick to smaller doses and or take regular  breaks.

Like cannabis it can be stimulating or sedating so it can be great for mornings along with coffee or at night with some relaxing tea. It's also much cheaper then cannabis if you buy from a good source. I live in Oregon where bud and extracts are steadily going down in price and kratom still is much cheaper at 75-100/kg w free domestic shipping.

It is not for everyone but it might help you not miss smoking and unless you're in a state that banned it it's still legal and places don't test for it. Anywaysyou should look until it at least :kratomtee:

I did however have a very real seeming dream that I had a date with and fucked Sandra Bullock; Its weird and random cause it's not like she's a celebrity crush or anything lol but she was a great lay

I hardly ever sleep, must be the consumption of virgin blood working its magick.

I don't oversleep (5-6 hours a night), but I do have a messed up sleep schedule for trying to be active when others are active, this town is not good for night owls.
