If you take it for mainly sleep than why not just take a sleep medication that is safer, more effective and has far fewer side effects.

What you described is like taking chemo because you don't want to be bothered to get a hair cut...

Yes. Though they have banned it in local county jails now. Last time I was in 3 years ago for a dui they posted this to everyone.

Which I found interesting. People just want to get through there time. Dreams are more entertaining than 16 hours of jail life.

I found it helped me get some sleep while in opiate withdrawal, especially mixed with gabapentin, but I can't attest to the safety of that combo so I wouldn't recommend it.

just brew 2-3 of these in a cup of warm water. I know it aint a pill but that shit will make you sleepy and not give you bad side effects. it's just valerian and chamomile

I have used many sleeping meds over the years for fairly severe insomnia. My preferred med is Ambien (Sublinox in Canada). Zopiclone, aka Zimovane aka Imovane is also quite good. The if the 'hypnotics' class isn't for you there are always the benzos. Of course these need to be used responsibly as they have all sorts of issues. But if used as prescribed I find ativan or clonazapam work pretty well. I have also had some success with Trazadone, but I prefer to not use a tricyclic antidepressant as a sleep med.

a 'Good' non-benzo/z-drug would be IMO/IME Amitriptyline

10mg is all you need for the heavy sedation and sleep inducing qualities, and as they come WAAAY under the threshold andti-depressant dose (50mg+) it's not like it'll be enough to intefere with too much but always check. It'salso one of the 'nicest' meds I've been on, both for sleep/headaches when young @10mg/night and as an antidepressant later on @50mg/night/25mg/morning(sometimes)

I'd reccommend Zopiclone out of the Z drugs, and out of the benzos, Nitrazepam or Temazepam would both be excellent for sleep.

Seroquel absoloutely sucks!  The rules regarding dosaging also make ZERO sense.

A 'typical' dose is 100-300 mg. daily at night because it makes you sleepy.  You will also have problems like catching a head rush everytime you stand up out of a chair.

Higher doses are often prescibed at the doctors 'discretion'.  Since my psychiatrist did not want to prescribe any benzoes such as Lorazapam for my anxiety he simply upped my seroquel dosage to 1,200 mg, 3 times daily.  That's 3,600 mg DAILY! ... I remember virtually NOTHING of that year.

Fortunately I found a shrink with some common sense and now I only take 1 or 2 mg of Loraz each day.  Every chance I have to complain to a Dr. about Seroquel I do ... And they all privately agree that it is highly over-rated and over prescribed.

just my 2 cents.
