Unknown slime and puff
    #23042370 -

These finds were in the Appalachian mountains in Virginia. Mixed
pine and hardwood forest.

The first is some broken branch I found where the wood was
all a very green/blue color but the bark was fine. On the side of the branch I seen the slime. It looked like some slime mold like pretzel slime or something.

And this is the puff ball thing. At the base of a big old pine.
Some fresh ones and some that puffed spores I guess lol. The fresh and older ones were about a foot apart from each other.

They have somewhat of a stem. Short and stubby.. I found a few more other than in those clusters. I found a solitary one on a dead branch and a solitary one on the forest floor.

Clustered on wood probably Lycoperdon pyriforme. And above that guessing a Physarum sp. and Chlorociboria leftovers. An American might correct me.

Thanks again. Check out the picture in this link. It has the blue green stuff also. Is it possible that Physarum polycephalum eats Chlorociboria?

Pleasure. It isn't blue staining in that wiki photo, just the yellow slime and the wood creating a greenish appearance. It's nice to find a Chlorociboria patch, check other wood in the area if it's of interest.

Ohh ok. I see what your talking about. Picture played tricks on me.
I'm going to go back to that spot tomorrow. I had no idea at the
time that the blue green was another species of fungi. It was really
neat. I'm going to take some samples. Maybe if I take some of the
blue sticks I can put them in a fruiting chamber  maybe
they will fruit. I read in my guide that they don't fruit until June
through November.

That sounds right. Best of luck in your forays!
