Why do my BHO and CO2 cartridges always leak?

I love these things if I could only get them to last without leaking a good percentage of their oil. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

Why do they leak?

The atomizer tends to flood. That pulls the oil through the pen when not in use and it leaks out the bottom of the cartridge where it screws into the battery. If I don't vape it all on the day I open one, there seems to be loss (sometimes significant). Wax pens do not have this issue but you know concentrates, if they have flavor, it is gone after a hit or two. Cartridges have great flavor every hit but I often have to pay 2x as much for them and then they leak.

I guess I could store them upside down, I think I have been doing that backwards.

I am talking about cannibus oil e cig cartridges you buy in medical and recreational shops around the country. They are one fill kinds of things.

A friend just stores and uses it upside down. I commented that seems like a hassle, but he said he quickly got used to it.

Indeed they are cool but they are not as advanced as I would like.

Pros:
They hit hard
They taste like greens every toke
They are discrete
They don't have a strong lingering odor

Cons:
More expensive than dabbing concentrates
They can leak and waste your product

As someone who was an early adopter of e-cigarettes, I wish there were an easier way to get your own e-weed to load into your own tankers. The one use tanks you get at stores are not that great.

Frankly, I prefer wax pens right now, but you have to load them frequently, and if you spill a container of crumble on the carpet... much will be lost. Also, some dabs taste great for a hit or two but the rest of the hits have no flavor (unlike e-weed).

It was really cool last year when I realized weed science had advanced and left me behind.

I have spent the last year getting new equipment and learning what I can about concentrates.

They taste different than flower but they still taste great and they don't taste all burned and shitty when you are running low.

We make these at my work (medical marijuana wholesale) and I fucking hate them. If you like concentrates which these are pretty much just way watered down with VG there are pens they now sell with ceramic atomizers where you load a dab in and get a good 5-7 hits from it. Plus the flavor is amazing. I've seen a few different types of the cartridges though, the ones that leaked the most for us were the ceramic bottom ones. always has a funky after taste too. The convenience factor is nice but if your into the terpyness and all that jazz they suck.

I'm looking at this for my tax return present to myself :datass:

I have had my eyes on that very e-nail too... since my current living situation makes me nervous to use butane and a rig. I would hate to spill or burn anything here.

Sadly though, at my age, my lungs don't take full dabs very well (I spent my twenties running my lungs like a good stoner should), so I use a micro g style pen for my dabs... you are right, you get several hits per dab with one, and the wickless atomizers are wonderful for flavor, but the terpenes are gone after a hit or two and with them, so is the delicious flavor. Not a huge fan of ceramic, but quartz can be hard to find and ceramic with multiple coils sure beats a cotton wick.

What I love about the e-juice cartridges is you don't have to keep loading them, so they are great to take out on the town with you. Also, you can add a few drops of flavored nicotine juice by removing the mouthpiece and stopper if you want to extend their life, reduce their potency, or completely mask the odor if you are so inclined (or even to salvage the last few hits which get stuck on the bottom and never want to go to the wick).

So far though, only Dàmà brand has used a cartridge that is leak proof but alas, they can crack easily if pocketed.

Another problem idk if you have noticed is the cannabinoids  start separating from the oil and you either burn all vg/pg or all the good shit.

any pen i ever had ended up leaking at some point, even moreso if you are out and about and have it in a pocket. never fun to leak.

So alas, I have my answer. They just aren't there yet with the technology.
