Medical examiner has confirmed Weiland had alcohol, cocaine and MDA in his system at the time of his death.

In a press release, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office revealed that former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver front man Scott Weiland died of an accidental drug overdose due to a mix of cocaine, ethanol, and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). The office also noted the degenerative effects of atherosclerotic and cardiovascular disease, a history of asthma, and multi-substance dependence on his health.

Weiland died in his sleep in Bloomington, Minnesota, on December 3 while on tour with his new backing band, the Wildabouts. He was 48. The day after his death, one of his bandmates on tour, Tommy Black, was arrested for cocaine possession. Black was released from jail a day later.

In the wake of his death, Weiland's complicated life has been memorialized in tributes by his bandmates and former colleagues and, most poignantly, his family. His ex-wife Mary Forsberg Weiland penned a letter asking people not to glorify his death, which she said was the endpoint of his "inability to separate himself from negative people and bad choices." "The truth is, like so many other kids, they lost their father years ago," she wrote. "What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope."

Too much liquor? Or too much sass? Too much blow? Or is doing all three in combo that dangerous?

I know quite a few folks that partake in this combo, with a lil acid or shrooms or both.

Shit now that I think about it, I've done this combo just earlier this year.

Won't lie, this kinda scares me. I was fully expecting the autopsy to show heroin overdose.

Combination of alcohol and cocaine together becomes cocaethylene, which is bad for the heart and a commonly lethal combination. The MDA probably only added to the complications.

Sounds like years of abuse had already done a number on his heart as well. I'm sure over time it just got worse.

Yep. Worth noting for a lot of folks here. Drug abuse takes it's toll. Gotta pay the Piper at some point. In regards to the letter from his ex; I read it, and sadly do not doubt that everything she said was legit. However that doesn't in any way make me mourn his loss less. He was obviously a tortured soul (she was too btw)...and that's something I can identify with. The man had so much talent, but he was human & his demons got the better of him. Breaks my heart to see that happen, and it happens all too often.
