Falcons are the most bad ass animals ever....

When these things dive to catch a prey, they reach speeds of 200 MILES per hour..... I can't even push my car to that speed.

Plus, when they are actually diving, it's really cool to see.

Of course, Australia has some falcons. Because that country wouldn't be dangerous enough if death couldn't come from above too...

they're far and away my favorite flying things. i'd love to get into falconry, shits uber expensive though.

A duck blind where I used to hunt was also right on this pigeon flyway where flock after flock would fly by. There was a big tall bare tree where a falcon would sit...just biding his time...then all of a sudden he would take off, guess he picked out a young one or maybe just a bit slower that the others....but, he would ambush one mid-air like a fucking rocket....then fly back to the tree with his dinner.

Gunshots didn't scare him off either....lol, guess he was use to Baltimore.:wink:

Falcons are part of this documentary, which looks at 4 predators (falcon, shark, cheetah and crocodile) and compares them in various regards.
It was pretty solid.

Falcon success rate on strikes is only 20%.

Have adapted comparatively well to humans efforts at urbanization though.

When I was really young, our neighbours had a falcon, but I was rarely really allowed near it. :sad:
Took me out hunting geese with it one time to see it in action.  Always wanted to get into Falconry since then. :lol:
