peyote seed harvesting - when are the fruits mature?

hi community!
i've had the pleasure to have been gifted with a very old lophophora which was in bloom and has (i can see a pink fruit) at least one fruit on its cephalium.
how do i know they're ready to harvest?
BTW, i don't live in US, where it's forbidden.

I allow them to ripen while still attached. The fruit will then detach with the gentlest of touches.

Here's mine in it's current state. Notice how the skin of the fruit is slightly translucent - just enough so you can see the seed(s) inside.

It allows to collect quickly several houndread little seeds without picking them one by one :nut: I think commercial nurseries have an electrical version of it :smile2:
