How to order things online while away at college?

Can you have things shipped to your dorm, is there like a mailbox type thing at colleges? Or would I need to get a P.O. box?

There is probably a central receiving type operation.  You can your shit delivered to the residence, just put the exact address and your room number on it.  You don't need a PO box.  Get the address from the front desk.

School cops love to ride power trips, and I'm sure they wouldn't think twice about fucking with your mail if they had the chance because it's "on school property"

It's a federal crime to open mail that's not addressed to you. Maybe there's a loophole in it?

UPS / Fed Ex can do it at their discretion :shrug:

edit:  I'm in no way saying that they can* legally, just that I wouldn't put it past some dickhead school cop.  My rights been trampled on illegally by cops before without the slightest hesitation, all in the name of ego, and I've encountered school cops that had bigger egos than the assholes who screwed me over, so I error on the side of caution these days.

UPS and FedEx are private corporations.

They can do whatever the fuck they want.

But opening USPS mail without a warrant is a federal offense.

If you're staying in a dorm you will get a mailbox at a spot inside the university somewhere. Most likely anyway. Either way they will give you the address, most likely it's your name, address of the college + the box number. If you're ordering semi legal or illegal items I would not have it shipped to the college, however I've known people who did without any issues.

You can ship to dorm. It will go to the RA's office. At least that's how my school is.
