I say hail last spring. It was like mid to high 50's and hail as big as half dollar coins. I may have a pic

Ok I lied it was smaller. Some where at least quarter size but at time of the photo they had melted a bunch.

I remember one summer when I was growing up, we had a violent hailstorm in the middle of June with hail the size of golf balls.  Pretty catastrophic damage happened.  It was insane.  I was home sick from school that day, so I got to watch the craziness from the safety of my bedroom.  Weather is bonkers.

P.S. That wasn't the most recent hail I saw; it was the most memorable.

I live in a weird place when it comes to weather. Sometimes we can experience 4 season in one day. It can be nice as a summer day in the morning, then totally cloud over and start snowing randomly then switch to hail. it's crazy.

I think the last time i saw hail was about a month and a half ago. They weren't large hail stones but tiny ones like pebbles.

There was a little bit my way this week, but I'd more call it sleet than anything else.  Thank god it wasn't more than that.  Hail sucks ass.

We had some storms pop off a few weeks ago here in nor-cal, I went and chased them down as they were relatively close by.


I'm somewhat a weather geek (I used to sit and watch radar/satellite loops for hours as a kid when storms where coming in :lol: ) ....



But yea, once I saw the orientation of the storms I drove out into the path of them....As I got towards the backside of the storm cell there was literally around 5 to 6 inches deep worth of hail piled up on the ground/roads, looked like snow, making deep ruts on the roads. This area of deep hail accumulation was about a 3/4 mile wide, I'm not sure how long it stretched on for, but there was a very defined line where the hail accumulated deep and where barely any fell. It was coming down so hard I literally couldn't see with the window wipers going at full-steam and driving just a few mph.


Most of the hail was a mix of pea to marble to nickel size, depending where I was within the storm.



During this same storm I watched a funnel cloud form and dance around for about 30 minutes...no more than a mile or so away from where I was. It was beautiful to watch. It reached down to the ground many times but it always lost its form before becoming an actual tornado, got very close a few times though.


Needless to say, I was so very stoked about this storm :lol: ...Not only that, every little bit of precip we can get here helps with this drought we're in, even if miniscule.
