Metal in my Kava

So... sitting at home making a roast and I think, "I'm gonna make some kava!"

So I get my nice new bag of kava and weigh out 23 grams and throw it in my Mr. Coffee (cause the stuff is never ground fine enough).

I start hearing a noise like a big piece of something hitting the blades.. So I stop and sift through the powder and find a chunk of metal about as big as my whole thumb nail and weighing 3.5 grams.
What. The. Fuck.

I let the company know and they are going to get back to me.

That sucks, is your grinder intact?

also, how is kava? Ive been wanting to give it a try and saw it at whole foods, but it seems like itd be mostly placebo

The first thing I checked was my grinder blades and everything is fine.

Kava is alright, it goes great with kratom.

I made it through like 1/4th of my kava drink today.  First time trying.  I figured the bad taste outweighed the good feels, so I just gave up.

Not being ground enough alone is a reason to get a new vendor, I hate it when it's not a fine powder.
But, that whole nail thing - a good reason to get a new vendor as well, that's fucked.

The only time I got the full effect of kava was the time I went to a kava bar. You really need to have soy lecithin in the tea to get the full effect.

ive tried it with milk too but didnt let it sit long enough to absorb because I didnt know you had to do that at the time

How long does it need to sit?  I used the erowid quick blend.  Well, 4 minutes in the blender with 2cups water, 1 cup milk, half cup of kava.

If you know of anything I can toss in there to get rid of that taste, I'm all for it.  (After it's been strained.)

to be honesty im quite inexperienced with kava, ive prepaired it many times myself when I was younger but wasnt aware it had to be absorbed into lipids at the time. the only time I truly felt the effects of it was when I drank a bunch of coconut shells worth of a tea made from it at a kava bar. the bartender told me they made a tea by putting kava in water with soy lecithin for 24 hours and then straining.

I bought some Kava capsules from a small health food store once and took a shitload of the capsules. When it finally came on it felt sort of like a good alcohol buzz, but a little more euphoric and clear-headed.

Another time I bought some shit I found at a CVS just because I was so surprised they were selling it, and a big handful of those capsules just put me to sleep. When I tried to take less the next time nothing at all happened.

EDIT: I should also add that the Kava that actually worked also made me puke like a dog about an hour or two after I had taken it. And I felt like shit when it started to wear off.
