what is it with old albums?

im trying to rip a few old cd's of mine... including the offspring "smash and the limp bizkit "three dollar bill, yall$"... i use CDex 1.30 and well everything rips well until i open the songs... silence... just silence... the exact time the song lasts, but you hear nothing... absolutely nothing... any suggestions? any good, free ripping software?

Do you have windows media player? i have never had a problem using it.

media player to rip cd's into mp3... never tried it... gonna give it a shot right now...
