That's because describing something as "indie" is about as vague as describing something as "electronic". Comparing a much more specific genre (ambient techno) to something as overarching as indie is kind of foolish. Plus there are people that would argue indie isn't even a genre.

Yea I didn't think Indie was a genre to begin with.

Doesn't it just stand for a band that records for an independent label?

I find it easier to find electronic music I like rather than music made by bands. I'm way more clued into electronic music. I guess with music made by bands you kind of have to warm to the personality on show - the lyrics, the themes and the vocals. Some stuff just turns me off immediately based on style rather than substance, like how a vocalist sounds. I could like lots of bands that are called shoe gaze or prog rock or whatever, check out a new one and not be turned on by them at all, thats just me though

So how do you feel about Bonobo? He tours with a band,has plenty of songs with vocals, he is quite obviously an electronic artist though. To me that's just as ridiculous as saying "I don't like electronic music because they don't use real instruments."

I'm not arguing with you here at all or hating on any type of music for any reason. Its a personal thing, I tend to warm to some vocalists more than others. Some lyrical content and styles dont do it for me. Therefore I tend to be a lot less picky with electronic music because it generally has less lyrical content and explicitly human traits. Theres a higher chance I'll like electronic music if I explore other artists from similar genres. That is all...
