Well that pretty much kill Landrieu's Senate career for sure.  When the new Senate is seated she will be gone and it will pass

It will fail to get through the United States of America, and any Tribal lands in its way as well.

If gas was still ~$4 a gallon, there might be some backlash.  But I mean, the backlash would come from the people who don't realize that we refine the oil and ship it out of country because that makes more profit.

There's an oil glut the Saudis are dump oil onto the market in an effort to kill this pipeline. Hope it works.

As much as the Saudis are a problem on the foreign agenda, as a leader in state sponsored terrorism ala 9/11 and most recently the backing/formation of ISIS... they're at least shaping domestic policy in the US quite well.

Really?  We can now somehow blame Saudi Arabia for oil prices AND shaping domestic policy in the US?

This is the bones of the Trans Texas Corridor on the way to even more of a North American Union.  I seriously doubt the Saudis are involved.

If you think the Sauds are gonna roll over and lose dominance of the oil market (which is the only reason they exist), you're incredibly naive.

The Saudis do not dominate the world oil market.

They have the largest known oil fields on the planet.

Not technically, but they tap them way better than Venezuela does.

It is quite possible that the US has more

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/american-oil-find-holds-oil-opec/story?id=17536852

Quote:
Drillers in Utah and Colorado are poking into a massive shale deposit trying to find a way to unlock oil reserves that are so vast they would swamp OPEC.

A recent report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office estimated that if half of the oil bound up in the rock of the Green River Formation could be recovered it would be "equal to the entire world's proven oil reserves."

Both the GAO and private industry estimate the amount of oil recoverable to be 3 trillion barrels.

Until domestic crude production is infused with domestic refined production, it doesn't matter how much potential the United States has.  Gas has dropped from ~$4 to <$3 over the past few years.  At it's highest point in the past few years WTI crude was going for damn near $115 a barrel, now it's roughly $40 cheaper and at $75 or so.

When Saudia Arabia can produce this crude at around half the price than most any frack operation can (nevermind the fact that the NA oil corps are spending billions and billions just to get the tech operational to access the deposits here), there is no way that these deposits will be even attempt to be accessed on a mass scale until oil prices go back up.

English much

The current price is enough to frack.  The Saudis and the other cheap drillers can't afford to flood the market because they will be fucking themselves out of cash.  Don't forget, for the vast majority of major oil producers that is their only source of income.  Cutting the price of their only product to squelch domestic US production is, at best, a delaying tactic.  Eventually their easy milkshake will be used up.  And then what, bitches?

I already stated, the price of fracking shale oil in vitro is now about $35 a barrel and getting cheaper.  OPEC no longer has a stranglehold on the oil market.

My great uncle's nephew's husband who is a futures trader said the exact opposite thing.

Conventional fracking may be getting cheaper and cheaper, but that doesn't mean the technology to get to deposits we can't currently get to are.

There is now growing fear among oil producers that the Saudi’s are willing to double down on this strategy in an effort to win back the market share it has lost to rivals over the years, ranging from fellow OPEC members to US shale producers. Iran has reportedly already responded to the Saudi cut, dropping their export oil prices to the lowest level since the crash of 2008.

So where does all of this leave US shale oil producers? While production at many plays is still worthwhile, increasing production costs will take its toll on margins as the oil price continues to fall.  Indeed, Deutsche Bank estimates that 9% of US shale oil production slated for 2015 is already uneconomic at around $90 a barrel. If oil prices continue to fall below $80 a barrel, that number jumps to 39%.

While the Saudi’s need oil prices to be relatively strong to balance their bloated state budget, with estimates  as high as $95 a barrel, the Kingdom could hang in an oil price war for a long time if it wanted by simply issuing sovereign debt or by cutting its overly-generous gasoline subsidies by a few pennies. Given its ultra low production (lifting) costs, which in 2009 reportedly hovered at around $6 per barrel, if you include capital expenditures, the Saudi’s could make up for the loss in margin by pumping up the volume. The Kingdom is only producing 9.7 million barrels of oil a day, 2.8 million barrels below its 12.5 million barrel maximum.

This wouldn’t be the first time the Saudi’s chose to impact prices by flooding the market with oil. In 1985, they doubled production virtually overnight, going from producing around 2.3 million barrels a day to 4 million barrels a day. The move eventually sent oil prices crashing from a high of $23.29 a barrel in December 1985 to a low of $9.85 a barrel six months later.

I feel for ya brah.  I know you are experiencing severe neuropsyhcological discomfort at nerve endings that terminate in your anus, but you need to come to grips with the fact that the US is going to be king of the hill in fossil fuel production for a long, long time.

So suck it up.  Maybe you can figure a way to get in on the money.  You know, by maybe going out and getting one of the well-paying jobs in this industry, that is, indeed, desperate for workers?  That way you wouldn't have to lay around waiting for Uncle's Nipple to be inserted into your mouth.
