This changed my life forever. I no longer listen to the radio.

Seven a.m., waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein' everything, the time is goin'
Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin'
Gotta get down to the bus stop
Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends)
Kickin' in the front seat
Sittin' in the back seat
Gotta make my mind up
Which seat can I take?
It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend
7:45, we're drivin' on the highway
Cruisin' so fast, I want time to fly
Fun, fun, think about fun
You know what it is
I got this, you got this
My friend is by my right, ay
I got this, you got this
Now you know it

Of montreal is lyrically amazing, and pretty far out there in general.

The surrealists were just nihilists with good imaginations

I am satisfied, hiding in our friend's apartment
Only leaving once a day to buy some groceries
Daylight, I'm so absent minded, nighttime meeting new anxieties
So am I erasing myself? Hope I'm not erasing myself

I guess it would be nice to give my heart to a god
But which one, which one do I choose?
All the churches filled with losers, psycho or confused
I just want to hold the divine in mind
And forget all of the beauties wasted

Let's fall back to earth and do something pleasant
We fell back to earth like gravity's bitches
Physics makes us all its bitches

I guess it would be nice to help in your escape
From patterns your parents designed
All the party people dancing for the indie star
But he's the worst faker by far
But in the set, I forget all of the beauties wasted

I guess it would be nice
Show me that things can be nice
I guess it would be nice
Youre trapped
Show me that things can be nice

You've got my back in the city
You've got my back, 'cause I don't want to panic
You've got my back in the city
You've got my back, 'cause I don't want to panic

Here's one that will never fail to resonate with me on multiple levels - I guess it helps that I grew up on horse farms, but lyrically it hits me hard in more of a metaphorical sense I guess. Makes me think of the past, and of losing someone to suicide a little under two years ago.

October's got those orange eyes
But somehow I still lost sight
When you lifted the lid off of my pumpkin head
And kissed me goodnight
Should it be a thorn in my side
We never quite broke that horse
She slept in the cul-de-sac rye
Seven miles from my front porch

Bundle up and come with me now
Down the road to the burnt down barn
We could make a blanket of coats
And breathe our souls into the neighbours front lawn
But oh god that look in your eye
Trouble that does not search words
It sprung from the biblical vine
And are waiting to return to the dirt

The stitches in your winter clothes
Your cello bows
We stole your hair to make them
We're sorry for the iron shoes
We nailed to you
And stuck you in the rain alone
You sprinted away, sprinted away
To where I don't know
God's moving in your bloodstream
Where the cross beats aren't so slow

You swept all the red from my cheeks
I didn't hear you come back inside
And light up the gas in the den
And stand there in the thin winter light
But oh god that curve in your spine
A question mark
A doctor sign was framed by the windowsill
And you saw something I did not in the night
You saw something I did not in the night

The stitches in your winter clothes
Your cello bows
We stole your hair to make them
We're sorry for the iron shoes
We nailed to you
And stuck you in the rain alone
You sprinted away, sprinted away
To where I don't know
(God's moving in your bloodstream
Where the cross beats aren't so slow) x3
(It's moving in your bloodstream
Where the cross beats aren't so slow) x3

aaand more of montreal. It's not exactly super heavy stuff, but damnit I related, and godfucingdammit I love the way they write their songs.

Saw her at Go kissing girls, what a shock
I said you must be an artist
She muttered her reply, I was judging her friend
As the DJ played a dead jam

No one wants to dance
They're outside smoking cigarettes

Matthew was there, yes, he gave me the eye
Saying, "It doesn't kill to try" then blue lights all around

Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me
To me you're just some faggy girl
And I need a lover with soul power
And you ain't got no soul power

Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me
To me you're just some faggy girl
And I need a lover with soul power
No, you ain't got no soul

She lead me outside to the church with the swing
There I was her confessor
Her come on made me blush, was her crush for the night?
Until I screamed, 'Stop'

Hey, you must be aware I'm not alone
I've got a tigress back at home and besides
You wouldn't know what to do with me"

And under the blue lights you see them gossiping
Gossiping, gossiping, gossiping, gossiping
Gossiping, gossiping

Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me
To me you're just some faggy girl
And I need a lover with soul power
And you ain't got no soul power

Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me
To me you're just some faggy girl
And I need a lover with soul power
And you ain't got no soul power
No, you ain't got no soul power

No, you ain't got no soul power
No, you ain't got no soul power
Say you ain't got no soul power
No, you ain't got no soul
Edit the description to add:
Historical context: what album the song's on, how popular it was
An explanation of the song's overall story (example: "In this song, Kurt breaks down a day at his grandparents' house")
The song's instrumentation and sound
