There were way to many side topics going on here was the issue. My main point was already  lost on the first page haha. This thread was completely about responsible, practical, and actually useful use of psychedelics and the people that don't do that. Not my opinions on people that indulge in various drugs and what music I think sucks.

Such is debating though, I always have fun with it at least X)

I'm dropping tonight so maybe I'll post how I feel about this on here when I'm in the zone :p

Nope.  Rejected.  You have emotions.  You also got it in your head someplace that you shouldn't, or at least, that you shouldn't express them.

Try losing that shit.  Read up on attachments.  Or just make some Ayahuasca and drink.  Then puke until you quit trying to understand.  Then puke some more

Posters are talking about different substances. I don't consider MDMA in the same category with Psilocybin.

Entheogens, like Psilocybin, increase consciousness. If the consciousness gets increased enough you're not going to be able to have "fun".

The world is a black hole of death. Our fellow creatures are being slaughtered by the hundreds of millions every day.

"Over 56 billion farmed animals are killed every year by humans. More than 3,000 animals die every second in slaughterhouses around the world. These shocking figures do not even include fish and other sea creatures whose deaths are so great they are only measured in tonnes." -- www.animalequality.net/food

The more conscious you become, the more this giant elephant in the room becomes visible.

That is not to mention the overwhelming amount of injustice in the world. For instance:

"Timothy Tyler was 25 when he was sentenced to die in prison.

Tyler, a Grateful Dead fan with no history of violence, got life without the possibility of parole for selling LSD to a police informant.

He'd never gone to prison before.

But a judge was forced to give him life because of two prior drug convictions — even though both those convictions resulted in probation.

At 45, Tyler has been in prison for more than 20 years and will likely spend the rest of his life there. He got the same life sentence as rapist and kidnapper Ariel Castro because of federal mandatory minimum sentence guidelines."
--- http://www.businessinsider.com/timothy-tylers-mandatory-minimum-sentence--life-in-prison-2013-7

Timothy Tyler's sister took this picture in her West Hartford, Conn. apartment when he was a teenager, around the time he went to his first Grateful Dead show.

There are over 3000 people in US jails serving life without parole for non-violent crimes.

"At about 12.40pm on 2 January 1996, Timothy Jackson took a jacket from the Maison Blanche department store in New Orleans, draped it over his arm, and walked out of the store without paying for it. When he was accosted by a security guard, Jackson said: “I just needed another jacket, man.”

A few months later Jackson was convicted of shoplifting and sent to Angola prison in Louisiana. That was 16 years ago. Today he is still incarcerated in Angola, and will stay there for the rest of his natural life having been condemned to die in jail. All for the theft of a jacket, worth $159.

Jackson, 53, is one of 3,281 prisoners in America serving life sentences with no chance of parole for non-violent crimes. Some, like him, were given the most extreme punishment short of execution for shoplifting; one was condemned to die in prison for siphoning petrol from a truck; another for stealing tools from a tool shed; yet another for attempting to cash a stolen cheque." -- http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/13/us-prisoners-sentences-life-non-violent-crimes

The more conscious you become, the less you are going to have "fun".

That is a shitty story and I really feel for that kid, but I don't see any reason why it means that I can't have fun when I take psychedelics

Ok -- here's an analogy:

There's a blind and deaf person in a world that's full of demons. He's unable to see or hear the demons. He thinks he's having "fun" doing all sorts of things he enjoys doing. Then he finds a substance that makes it possible to gain sight and hearing. Little by little he starts seeing and hearing. And little by little he starts realizing that his world is full of demons. It becomes harder and harder for him to enjoy the things he enjoys doing since he now sees that he has to spend the rest of his life in a world full of demons.

I can agree with the OP, but at the same time not fully. I was thrown into my firsy psychedelic experience,  a tab that was easily 400ug (I've done a good share of liquid to dose), in the woods with my girl on the same tabs. After that we had a year of tripping for fun, probably 2-3 damn times a week, which burned out like it usually does... but now I can't even imagine using such a spiritual leverage for purely pleasure but I don't regret being young having fun, because the respect was there.

moral of the story is having fun is ok, as long as the upmost respect is still held. it took the most spiritual experience of my life, followed by pure fun, to see which I preferred and would last. if the respect for the spiritual side isn't there, the fun will be inevitably ended with boredom or a horrific experience.

Tell that to Timothy Tyler:

Tyler has served 21 years in prison and told the ACLU that he lost his mind after the first 10 years. He has repeatedly been held in isolation—leading to a mental breakdown so severe that in March 2013, he was found singing at the top of his lungs in his jail cell, naked and spreading feces all over himself. -- http://www.takepart.com/article/2013/11/26/mandatory-minimums-end-lives

Wow, I've seen a lot of really stupid things posted on the shroomery within this last week, but "you can't have fun because there is injustice in the world" is definitely up there.

Quote:

Nope. The more conscious I've become, the more fun I've had, because I've realized that no matter what is going on in the world, one thing I can control is my perspective. It all comes down to perspective. My level of peace & entertainment with life boils down to whether or not my perspective is positive or not. I've had my life do complete 180s, without any circumstances changing; just how I saw/felt about them & myself.

You haven't seen russian psychedelic community, Andy.
I'm from Moldova but my native language is russian, so I started on their forums.
I'm happy I can find such people like you here, who understand what is what. I've met only one or two there.

Don't you think your post looks like "Oooh, so many stupid bastards use PC for playing video games while they could create something important!"? Is it so bad? I know what you mean, however... At least, "those people" make psychedelics more popular and accessible (and you benefit from it, don't you?). And don't you think a lot of them are reticent rather than ignorant? Maybe someone says "I'm fucked up" when experiences true religious extasy or something and just doesn't want to tell anybody.

Congrats, this is the dumbest thing I've read on here in a while. And there's a lot of dumb shit on here...Look, while there's a lot of shite going on in this world there's also plenty of beauty here. In fact, high doses of psychedelics often make me see the beauty in the world rather than the evil.

Also, MDMA might not be a psychedelic in the traditional sense, but it too can be used to better understand oneself, especially one's emotions.
