just took a silly large dose of gabapentin

this is one pharamaceutical that affects gaba that, no matter how much I have ever taken of it, has never made me "lose control" or "black out". I suppose perhaps because it is a GABA precursor that only so much of it can be converted into GABA and the rest of it goes to waste, but that is only a theory. I am prescribed 1800mg a day, but if I triple that I get a really pleasant calming buzz from it. Sometimes I even quintuple or sextuple it. Probably the largest dose I have ever taken before is 12 grams.

Well, because of a recent change in my dosage I ended up with an extra bottle of about 75 600mg pills, so I decided to really put this stuff to the test to see what happens if you take a MASSIVE dose- is it possible to ever tip yourself over the edge? to get more loosey-goosey than you want? to lose patches of memory? I doubt it, but I guess we'll see. About fifteen minutes ago I consumed 19.8 grams of gabapentin (33 600mg doses). Plan to consume  more in a couple of hours if I don't get a negative reaction. The Pfizer data report indicates that the LD50 is 5 grams per kilogram which means it'd take around 460 grams to kill me so I am not worried about overdosing.


Will report back on the effects later on, you know, for science and such.

That's wild.  I take 900 mg of the stuff and get amped.  1200 and I'm sedated. However I have no tolerance for it and never take it two days in a row so it stays that way.

Hey be careful with that stuff k.
I once almost overdosed on lyrica which it like the sister drug to gabapentin but its stronger. I blacked out and my boyfriend said my eyes rolled back and i started falling asleep and saying weird things i dont remember any of it

Weren't you just complaining about running out of the stuff because some junky stole your shit and now you're going to take 1/3 of your entire monthly dosage in one go?

yeah, I was. and I got that that situation resolved, and ended up with an extra bottle of it. Did you read the OP? You dont even know what my monthly dose is now, I said it got changed. I have an entire bottle of 90 800mg pills plus I still have like 42 600's. also I dont think my gabapentin got taken by a "junkie", i think it was taken by someone living in my house who slipped up and stole some pills from me but is otherwise doing well. there are no "junkies" living here

from the anecdotal reports I've gotten, lyrica is way stronger than gabapentin

i am not sure I understand the toxicity data here though.

so far i dont really feel much of anything. gabapentin usually takes several hours to take full effect

Yeah I did... I assumed "An extra bottle" meant you went to your doctor and he just prescribed you an extra one early

Not he prescribed you one, changed your dose and gave you another.

fair enough though it wouldn't be "extra" if it was just the next month's bottle early and i was out of the last month's bottle, but whatever, it doesnt matter. point is, i have lots of gabapentin

I tried that once and it was complete dysphoria. Made me really restless in a bad kind of way. I was glad when it was over. No euphoria whatsoever.

that's very interesting. I wonder what might cause that, since taking moderate overdoses like 5 grams has always been very pleasant to me.  hope I dont get a negative reaction.

I've heard lots of interesting things about it being good for memory and other things like depression... always been interested in trying some but eh, figured it wasn't worth the hassle trying to get a doc to prescribe me it hah

my doctor will pretty much prescribe me anything that's not a benzo, opiate, or amphetamine. also nothing close to benzos like ambien. he knows i research a lot online, he can tell i know a a good bit about psychopharmacology, so he basically just lets me tell him why i think something would be helpful and then prescribes it to me if it makes sense. for example, I went in a few months ago and said that I felt hypervigilant and described my symptoms to him and said that because it seemed to me that my symptoms were related to the hyperadrenalized state my brain, and particularly of pyramidal circuits between my PFC and limbic system, partially related to the SNRI I take, and that I therefore thought a beta-adrenaline blocker was probably the most likely candidate for an effective and safe (ie, nonaddictive) treatment of the hypervigilance and I suggested propanolol and he was just like "you're too smart for your own good". but it's not true. a) I'm not that smart and b) i just know how to use wikipedia and c) it works out for my own good, not against it.

propanolol has been a great treatment for hypervigilance btw

for the first few hours i felt really uncomfortable and i sweated a lot. now at t+8 hours i just feel really relaxed. nothing special, will not repeat. it's nice to take around 4 grams though

When I got a bunch of that shit for cheap as fuck I loved it. Shit did make me crazy horny though and I do believe I had to take a lot!

I really enjoy Gabapentin in the gram or 2 range. Its extremely calming, helps my anxiety and band pain, and allowa me to draw for quite a while/stay attentive to what I want to do

I took Gaba a few times on top of opiates. It enhanced the high but after a couple days tolerance built quick. Never taken it on its own though.
