JP Morgan having a stake in Viacom and 20th Century Fox doesn't make Jon Stewart the same as any of the ass hats on FOX news. He makes fun of FOX news constantly, I mean really. As soon as Jon Stewart starts spewing propaganda instead of doing what he has been doing his entire Daily Show career, then I'll go along with you. Until then, you're just barely short of conspiracy theory territory.

*edit: sucks that the only "other side of the coin" I could find on the internet also is coming from a source with a MAJOR AGENDA, I don't know much about the Tea Party but in some aspects this article could have been written with less "insults in anger"

Paragraph 1: For one this is full of Ad Hominem attacks against pretty much everyone. Also, Jon Stewart says all the time that he is a comedian and his show is entertainment. I'm sure there are people who only get their news from him, but that isn't his fault.

Paragraph 2: FOX news is rightly associated with old-fashion conservatives. Their average viewer age is in the 60's. Obviously the corporations that own these networks are looking only for money. That is why they will keep shows that get good ratings. The big news networks put constraints on what the anchors can say. However, Jon Stewart isn't a news anchor. He doesn't report the news, he makes fun of it. He uses satire to get at truths. His show gets good ratings, so the people who own Comedy Central aren't going to cancel it. He talks about corporations negatively all the time. Pretty much every thing he says on his show is progressive.

Paragraph 3: The people at the very top of most corporations are conservative. They are pretty much the only one's who have a vested interest in the status quo. All the money they donate to candidates is going to have a larger impact than anything anyone on their network says. As long as their shows are getting good ratings, they will keep them. All you have to do is listen to what Stewart is saying to see that he isn't a corporate shill.

Paragraph 4: Once again, Stewart doesn't claim to be anything other than entertainment. Colbert even more so. Their shows are on for a collective hour four days a week. That is hardly taking up so much of one's time that they can't get educated in other ways. Satire is useful. It allows them to get at truths through humor. If something is funny, people will be more willing to listen to what it has to say.

Well put, does make you think. Is john stewart progressive... yeah probably.
Is there a gatekeeper telling him HOW progressive he can be... of course...
Did you ever see John or Colbert give any attention to 911 truth activism without trashing it, no...

Oh... Ok... You make a good point, I mean, conspiracies are not mainstream subject for someone like JS. And I don't blame him. JS and Colbert are both very smart guys. I don't have frustration towards them, just looking for a different kind of entertainment that still contains some actuality and some news, fake or not. Maybe I'm already too much to the left and just want the content to be more provocatively stimulating. I'm still watching those video posted by the person who said it was better than Infowards, heck I find it much better and funnier than Comedy Central. More viewing till I know what this guy's about but he's funny to me I can admit that.

Wow, I still am only starting to listen to this guy... but he's f*ng awesome! I can see he sometimes rips off Bill Hicks, and that is great lol, I'm glad I finally found someone with the same sense of humour as Bill, dam I thought that because of his death his style had died, but apparently, it lives... John Stewart spews all kinds of propaganda, but because you agree with it you don't recognize it as such.


I think that's true
I guess we tend to call propaganda what we don't agree with and when we do agree with it it can seem like "harmless entertainment" even though it is still propaganda.
Michael Moore is a good example of this, he made so much money off of that 9/11 movie but he is also often exposed as a hypocrite when we look at the other side of the story.

*edit: Just found this, it's not funny, but I find it entertaining and reaches me more than the political videos made with humour...
