The future technology brings an plethora of exiting sexual opportunities. Sex robots have been a popular fantasy and idea by many for a long time now.
Can you imagine what may be made? I heard someone who had a theory that in the future, a virtual reality will be available to us to emulate sexual situations to serve a person's desires. Kind of like that room in Star Trek but with a venereal purpose.
The Orgasmatron is a real device that highlights the direction we're heading in.
It is a $3000 contraption which involves electrodes to be surgically inserted close to the spine. Once implanted, a remote control is used to control electoral pulses which give an instant orgasm at will.
I think that although exiting, i fear for the social reclusion we are heading in. I went out with a couple friends the other night, and while we were waiting for our food, they preferred to view their phone screens than talk. I attempted to spark conversation, but it was futile so i sat in silence peering around the room and realised how dirty the place actually was.

I doubt they'll ever become very popular as they'll be nothing more than expensive masturbation aids.

The thing that makes sex truly rewarding is having it with a person you love. A melding of body and souls, the ultimate social and spiritual connection.

A robot would be able to stimulate you mechanically but, so can your hand and hands don't cost a thing.

I'm guessing the only people than end up with sex robots are:
* Mentally ill lonely people that anthropomorphize their robot and pretend it's a really person.
* People with robot fetishes (I'm sure this exists)

I doubt this kind of technology will be seen in our lifetimes. Plus if I had a holodeck I'd probably rather use for high fantasy, magic, demons and angels than sex which is a mere human experience.

Perhaps this kind of technology may end up replacing brothels some day :shrug: I personally would rather real companionship.

You've heard of drugs right? They're cheap, widely available, get your higher than orgasm and a THEY DON'T REQUIRE YOU TO GET EXPENSIVE BRAIN SURGERY.
