Yeah it was a pretty comical situation all around.

How would photos on the beach be used for pornographic reasons? People are fully clothed are they not? Not only that but it's public property you can take photos all day, every day as long as you're not doing anything shady and as far as I can tell this guy wasn't. The lady was just acting like a dumb bitch. [/quopte]

People who use that sort of language aren't particularly bright. In my opinion that is, I am just saying, right?

But listen. Where do you draw the line. Anything goes but pedophilia? The rest is all fair game? So if I take a drone and hang it above your wife in bathing suit on the beach and make a few nice zooms of her boons, all 'fiully clothed' in a bikini or bathing suit and maybe zoom in a bit on her crotch and hover the drone a bit to the left and a left and the right, that is okay to you? Ok so your wife is not a child, so that makes it okay then.

Where do you draw the line? You wanna guy make such detailed photo's or films and put it on YouTube with the catchy title 'Hot chick on beach, look at her boobs!!!'

What if you are next to her. And you get an itch in your pelvic hair, because, you know, that shit happens. Then I can watch you on YouTube under 'Suspicious guy on beach scratching crotch while looking around nervously'.

Or maybe he will post it as 'Horny guy touching Dick looking at Women around him!!!'

Where do you draw the line for privacy?

Is that the society you want or like? Where a man can't scratch his crotch because a pubic hair is in the wrong position? Do you want random surfers on Youtube jack themselves off looking at your wife's boobs?

Okay so, anticipating your argument of 'Yeah man, I don't care, let them ahahah...' Fine you don't care. But I do. What about me? Are you gonna gimme the middlefinger and say 'fight your own battles?'What about my wish to be on a beach without drones that can capture every single inch of my body or my behavior?

I'm not even sure what the fuck she was trying to say.... So taking photos on the beach could be considered pornographic? Or taking pictures on the beach and then upon searching the camera finding porn on it? I don't get it.

So what to 'get' here is that we don't want a society where the authorities spy on us using the NSA and other agencies without any holding back whatsoever and that we as free people in an open society don't want to start spying on each other, giving the impression everything is tolerable. It is not tolerable and not everything goes.

Regardless that is a huge fucking assumption that he was taking photos of kids anyways.

Yet, if he did and no one called the cops, you would be the first screaming when they found the fucker out or your kid was on some DVD with pedophilia pictures. And then you would lash out why some asshole can make these pictures of your kid and why no one cared enough tos top it.

What is someone supposed to do then? Assume he means no harm? Assume the worst?

Well, if you are in america where ever one seems to act like bloody infant, probably because of fear of law suits, (watch your step, wet floor, you slap me on the back and its sexual harassment, you look at me funny and now I have emotional trauma, who is the 'responsible person' in Disneyland when you enter with a group...) than there is always someone who feels truly offeneded by some real or imaginary transgression. This women is no different, but in this case her concern was legit.

Dude had a copter with a gopro. How many people have gopros stuck to things?

he wasnt using a hidden camera. there is no evidence he was taking pictures of children, or for pornography.

That is barely the point. The point, to me, is that we should not want a society where every one has a cheap drone hovering around their garden, that can also look into the neighbors garden. Apart from safety issues, these things hurt when they fall on your head, do you want to live in a panopticum society? Yeah , look it up on wiki.

I do not believe that just because you are in a public space, all bets are off. That you lose all rights to some degree of privacy. Why do you not? Are you young perhaps, grown up in a society of apps and facebook and google? You don't know any better? And your parents never taught you about privacy? Well I grew up in a time when there was no internet and no small camera's that could be put in phones or on drones. So I am of maybe the last generation that still has a sense of what privacy is.

Youre in public, if you arent willing to have a photo taken, stay out of public. You want more privacy, go to private property.

The public space is not an area without rules. I think, because of all this technology, like drones, there should be a revision of current privacy laws, especially about the public space. We cannot be naive about the consequences when we fail to protect our rights as people. Because, if what you say is going to be the norm, then going grocery shopping will become a risky business, because no one has a CHOICE but to cross  public space to the supermarket. And if all bets are off, if anything goes, to the point that you get recorded very regularly, then who is to stop an advertising company to deploy drones as standard around shopping centres, strips and malls, to record everyone and track them? Hey, it is just the public road!

Drone technology is NOT in your personal favor!

Quote:
How many other people were taking photos at the beach that day? Did she go and attack all of them?

That is because she deploys a minimum standard. You defend the man with a drone. My standard is more strict than the woman's. I don't like my picture taken and I don't like people with cellphones snapping just about everything around them. I wanna go to the beach or some public space and relax, not appearing in the pictures of 12 different people making panoramic shots to give an impression of the beach.

I think photography was a nice idea in 1890. And even in the 1950's. Or the 1980's. But the combination of ICT and cheap camera's is a disaster. Photography is no longer an art of a hobby, but a senseless stupid pass time for every loser that has enough motor skills to hold up a cell phone. Most pictures taken have no meaning and are redundant.  And you don't even need motor skills, there is technology built-in to remove your shaking drunken hands effect.

And no, I don't own a cell phone, never needed one and never will own one. I respect your privacy and grant it you, even if you don't respect mine.
