Wrapping the food when I'm eating in.

Why? It adds unnecessary waste and squishes the food. This applies to fast food and not real restaurants. I don't need half a box of napkins either.

I hate restaurants that look at you dirty if you continue to to stay after you ate everything, which is mostly an American thing.

When I went to sushi with my wife's parents back in california, the minute everyone was done with their meal we paid and left. It almost flt rude to me at that point. Here in Berlin, we take our time and won't leave until an hour after we finish the meal.

Feels way more laid back and natural. The downside though, is in Berlin, the restaurants aren't well know for their quality service.

Wait so you "Camp out for an hour after your meal"? You sound like a real class act. Yeah screw the wait staff out of a tip on the next people to be sat there and make the dishwashers hang around till you feel like Eating that last little fork full of food. :thatsayes: A bit of after dinner conversation is one thing But that is downright rude Master Race my ass. And you wonder why you don't get good service.? The bigger ? is how much spit boogers and semen have you eaten in your life?

Well, waiters don't usually live on tips in Europe, so even though I am a generous tipper it wouldn't make a damn difference. I actually AM American BTW.

My comment that food service is Berlin is known to be sub-par, in the same way Bostonians suck at driving. It is a stereotype of the city. I'm never an asshole at restaurants, even to asshole restaurants. I tip generously despi9e bad service, but then I never ever go again.

Don't get me wrong, the post dinner hour always has pitchers of beer, but there isn't that rush you out feeling like I get in America.


I can't think of a good reason to give a fuck about all the semen, cock, boogers and spit I have consumed. Let me know if you think of one.

In Japan when you go out to eat dinner at a restaurant, it's usually for 2-4 hours.. they take their time too. Except the service is phenomenal. Food followed by an hour or two of drinking and socializing, that's part of the experience.

The whole "eat food and leave as soon as you are done" thing is mostly an American thing... comes from our fast food culture I think.

It's considered rude if you are in a group of people to just leave as soon as you are done eating. You have to stay for at least 2 or 7 drinks..

It's part of the culture dude. Many cultures, eating is a leisurely time to be enjoyed.. not rushed.
In Italy the whole town will shut down for a couple hours in the afternoon so everyone can have a nice long lunch and drink and nap

I think you are equating a restaurant with merely the food, where as in here and Japan it is as much about the socializing as the food. I am paying the restaurant to be able to hang out there as well.

You expect to get a table as soon as some one is done eating,
because you want the table and chances are you want the table mostly because of the food.
I expect to find another restaurant or make reservations, because the POINT of the dinner is not to eat and run. We have two TOTALLY different on the point of a dinner out.

I think our attitudes also come from our expectations.

I wouldn't find you inconsiderate, if you treated restaurant time as a social event. Actually, in my experience here the faster someone leaves the restaurant the more the restaurant sucks.

I really think it is a case of technically, the fact that you don't have a table is your problem, not mine.
I'm SUPPOSED to be sitting here chatting.
YOU are supposed to be sitting there chatting.
You are getting mad at what is supposed to be going on?
It's like getting mad at golfers golfing instead of jogging.

Like I said, your idea of what a dinner is supposed to be different than mine. In some cultures, burping at a meal is a sign of affection.

Because my idea does not fit your idea, the friction created is you thinking I am rude.

Canada here. We usually stay and talk after we are done eating too. Personally, I don't enjoy it, but I have sat at a restarant table for more than an hour after the meal to chat with family/friends.
