Dilated Pupils

Does anyone know why this happens while tripping? The other night I noticed it for the first time, I never knew this happened and I've tripped quite a few times. Why does this happen?

I'm not sure, someone might have a definitie answer.

I am thinking along the lines of the drugs causes the brain to think you are in a dark environment, as the pupils normally become large due to lack of light (letting in as much light as possible).

Anyone else got any other ideas?

Halluciogens affect the adrenergic neurotransmitters which are an active players in many of your body's smaller involuntary muscles funtions and homoestasis agents. Interference with these neurotransmitters acutely affects sweat and and siliva excretion, body temp regulation, blood pressure, heart rate and mydriasis (pupil function and control).

I met a belgian guy once who solved that problems by ALWAYS wearing sunglasses. Just ask for a nice pair sunglasses for christmas or something and wear them all the time. People will think you're odd but you'll never get busted for fat pupils or redeye.

yeah i kno...i have a pair of oakleys that do the job..but try explaining to ur family why u r wearing sunglasses inside at 11 pm at nite (long story don't wanna get into it)

Just say "Cos it makes me look cool, something *you* wouldn't know about." Even though you know you must look like a bell top.

I have been busted by parents (and even arrested now :frown:) they're pretty much past caring about a bit of red eye. Funnily enough, nutmeg was the worst...I could barely sit up at dinner.

Family dinners are the bane of all young stoners with concerned parents.

haha I have done nutmeg 3 times now.

First time was great fun, took a bit too much (i thought, come on it's only nutmeg, whats the worst it can do), shivering, sweating, nausea, munchies, dry mouth...I actually enjoyed that sketchy stage, just the right level of screwed upness.

then just stoned for 2 days it seemed.

Lowering the dose removed all the bad side effects except munchies (but I wouldn't call that bad as long as you have lots of food to munch out on) and dry mouth (wake up next day almost choking for a drink)

If there's enough interest I could write up full trip reports but I doubt there is...

If my pupils didn't dialte I think I would be alot less paranoid when I had to talk to someone ....I'm always thinking "They are staring right at my huge fucking pupils"

I love how dilated pupils look.

I've seen people's pupils get the size of buttons while on marijuana, but the largest pupil dilation I've seen was when my friend was tripping on belladonna.

Or you could buy those colored contacts that are the same color as your eyes, then it wont appear that your pupils are dilated.

Come on... don't put your parents through that. If they are concerned about smoking pot, imagine what they'd think if they knew you were eating psychedelics? And just knowing that they were around could surely be a nagging thought when you are tripping...

Yeah, I don't trip around parents....but there have been times when I have had to talk to them tripping....such a bad experience.
