Re: is hemp now legal in the united states? [Re: Shroomism]

Didn't DuPont have a lot to do with it being made illegal? Hemp would have competed with their products and textiles and what not..?

Yes Dupont had A LOT to do with it being made illegal. They could not compete with hemp because it was superior in just about every way to cotton and many chemicals can be made from hemp (such as plastics) which they could not compete with. Prior to this, hemp was used for most clothing, paper (our own Constitution was written on hemp paper), ship sails, plastics (the first prototype Model-T Ford was built using hemp plastics - AND was supposed to run on hemp biodiesel, but this was killed by extreme pressure from the oil companies). It can be used for fuel, building materials, and hemp seeds are the single most nutritious source of food for human consumption, it has everything you need to survive. It's the most versatile plant on the planet by far.

there's a shitload of misinformation here, I used to own the book but I'm
one of the first to say that jack herrer was full of himself, the book was
chock full of misinformation simply so he could deliver his message

1. nothing was stopping DuPont from buying up hemp farms and growing it
themselves or simply growing and producing hemp products grown on land
they already owned. DuPont was at that time one of the largest
manufacturers in the world, they could have done so with ease

2. the Model T wasnt supposed to run on biodiesel made from hemp, it was a
tri-fuel car, it could run on gasoline, kerosene, or ethanol. while
ethanol could have been made from hemp I am unaware of a time when it was
and with decreasing gas costs and prohibition, ethanol became a fuel of
the past in those days. the model T also didnt have any body panels made
from hemp plastics, there was a reason the model T was known as the Tin
Lizzy, because the body was made from stamped tin

3. our constitution and the declaration of independence (the actual \
document from the urban legend) was written on parchment, likely made from
sheep skin, copies were made and they were written on hemp paper and the
first 2 drafts of the DoI were also on hemp

4. hemp seed is also not even close to the most nutritious food source we
could eat, Kale, Sardines, Salmon, blueberries and shellfish are all more
dense in nutrition and that's just a short list

The weird thing is that you can buy cannabis seeds that get you
high all over the Internet. But good luck finding Hemp seeds that
don't. I've only seen one place who does. That place was selling
Suomi Hemp seeds. Out of stock now. Damn it.

Must be Big Brother Cotton stopping it.

We're living in a Paradox I tell you.

I live in dixie, you know, the land of cotton. the cotton lobby is powerful,
they influence buying with their commercials and shit, they have a real need
to keep marijuana illegal

Right, COULD HAVE.. but instead they teamed up with Anslinger and helped fund Reefer Madness.

The PROTOTYPE was made from mostly hemp plastics. That got changed by the time it went into production.

Quote:
Ethanol has been known as a fuel for many decades. Indeed, when Henry Ford designed the Model T, it was his expectation that ethanol, made from renewable biological materials, would be a major automobile fuel. However, gasoline emerged as the dominant transportation fuel in the early twentieth century because of the ease of operation of gasoline engines with the materials then available for engine construction, a growing supply of cheaper petroleum from oil field discoveries, and intense lobbying by petroleum companies for the federal government to maintain steep alcohol taxes. Many bills proposing a National energy program that made use of Americas vast agricultural resources (for fuel production) were killed by smear campaigns launched by vested petroleum interests. One noteworthy claim put forth by petrol companies was that the U.S. government's plans "robbed taxpayers to make farmers rich".

Perhaps.

I should say the most nutritionally COMPLETE food. It contains every vitamin, mineral, protein, fats, etc that the human body needs to survive. Protein in the ideal ratios for humans as well. Blueberries, kale, sardines, salmon etc are great superfoods but they do not contain everything you need to live.
