Nj always gets the short end from those greedy NYC fawks.

I guess go to Hoboken or Jersey city and enjoy the skyline and water front.  Catch the PATH to NYC to explore around.

The PATH was only a dollar from Hoboken to NYC but I think it went up.

Should be plenty of after parties to find.  Bars are open till 4am.

did you see bassnectars AMA last week? he was talking about the aspen shows and it sounds so fuckin dope, he just basically wants to make people move and dance, not so much about new tracks or a journey/experience, just a nice DJ set thatll leave your drenched in sweat as you leave...fuck im so jealous, i wish those shows were announced earlier than they were cuz all my shit was booked by time it was announced

i hear the amsterdam one is HUGE, like 70,000 people, then the US one has only sold like 20k tickets so far...im sure its way more special in amsterdam where its originally from tho...on another forum i post on this dude said he lives around the US one and has seen the festival site being built this week and says it looks fucking wild, a true psychadelic playground...cant wait to enjoy that shit in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace


even tho i wont be there very much, i cant wait to see what mainstage looks like too, they always make a new one for each year


im not really into all edm fests that much, but i figure theres no reason to miss this festival, its only like 4-5 hours away from me so fuck it

I went to the Love Parade in Berlin one year.  A rave with 1.2 million people in attendance.  It was so many people that the party sucked.  It was cool when it dispersed and there were just like 5000 parties spread throughout Berlin.  I couldn't do that these days; too old, too jaded.

I do not get the appeal of Bassnectar.  His music is so formulaic, his fanbase is terrible.  Dude is getting paid 100K per gig though, good for him.  I saw him many years ago in Chicago, at a time when I liked dubstep.  Wasn't my thing.  That was when it cost like 10 bucks to see him.  People are paying a lot of money for mediocre music these days.

theres a reason why hes the only name in electronic music with a touring fanbase


some people are just too concerned with how popular a DJ is

and his crowd is soooooooooooo much more legit than basically any other fanbase in electronic music...his fans actually knows whats up

you cant talk shit about a fanbase if you dont go to his shows lol, you dont get his scene

sure some of his fans are whiny spoiled brats who go to all his shows on their parents dime (we refer to these as custies), but a LOT of his fans also completely understand this scene and know a TON of music...im goin to red rocks with like 15 people next week for him from boston and i think im like the 2nd youngest, at 25 years old...its more than just a kid thing


hes just so good as throwing together a set thats really just a journey and an experience, its more than just a DJ set

I went to one of his shows, it was real lackluster.  And the fans were all little kids.  They did not "know what's up".  There could've been a CD playing and no one would've known the difference.  It seems to me that most Bassnectar fans are EXACTLY concerned with how popular a dj is; I've seen so many djs who are so much better get very little recognition out of insular pockets of fans.

I'm just trying to discuss a differing opinion with you, not debate subjectivity.

honestly, who gives a fuck what they do up on stage? people are such hipsters about it...theyre like "ahhh well if ur not actually DJing then you suck"

like who fucking cares? the music is still playing...track selection is SO much more important


and when did you see him? if it was all little kids then it musta been within the last couple years, if it was before 2009 then im calling bullshit

It was in 2009.  It probably wasn't as bad as it is now, but since 2006 or so I'd been going out to dubstep nights that were 21+ and the crowd was great; older heads who really love music.  The bassnectar show was at an 18+ spot, the first time I'd been to one in ages, and I remember being around a bunch of e-tards and shit.  It didn't impress me.

I guess it was really dancey stuff, I can see why it's good music to party too if you're on a ton of drugs.  But I can't understand why people sweat him like they do.  No offense, SARAtonin, but going from CO to NY to hear bassnectar is insane to me.  There are so many great DJs in CO!  I would just rather see what SUBmission is doing that week, LOL.

honestly, edc ny is a really shitty festival...im trying to not talk shit cuz shes going, but around the northeast it has a terrible reputation...they half ass the shit out of the whole festival, its in a parking lot not even in nyc, it ends at 11 pm, and its the kinda festival where its all fucking 16 year olds, especially now that mysteryland has the 21+ crowd going there...i really dont blame anyone for wanting to see bassnectar tho, basically everyone who only wants to see nectar at edc is going to mysteryland the next day

i think insomniac fucking blows, they throw the same lineups out year after year and it just has the worst crowd, bros for days and nobody knows shit about anything...noob central



honestly if i was sara, had mad loot, and wanted to see bassnectar that weekend, i woulda chose scamp, that lineup is nuts and its a legit festival that goes all night...bassnectar throws down extra hard for festivals like scamp, its how he got big

A full freestyle set, nothing down tempo, nothing cinematic, just raging the fuck down for two days .
I swear imma do my body weight in coke by the end of Aspen. : lol:

And as far as ML is concerned, it's got a dank ass lineup,
But at the same time I have a pretty hard time convincing myself to go out to a festival if Lorin is not going to be there.
But I hope you have an awesome time at ML, rage for me. :P

And ya I figured the security would be a lot more than what I'm used to seeing here in CO because it's in NY (NJ) and they are a lot more uptight.

You party around NYC?  This past year there was the Boo Reunion party.  From 1997 until 2003 a NY production company called Stuck on Earth threw an annual Halloween party called "Boo".  I went to every one from 1999 on, and saw that they were doing a 10 year reunion party this past fall, was very tempted to go but didn't.

i only hit nyc if its something i absolutely cannot miss...i dont go there nearly as much as i used to...nyc is a 4 hour drive for me so its gotta be worth it

honestly i hate everything about that town, they nickel and dime you so fucking bad for everything...but its not nickels and dimes, its like 50's and 100's

Haha, I know what you mean.  I'm like 2 hours from NYC and I haven't been there since I moved back east last fall.  I wouldn't mind going out to hear an act that I'd never catch otherwise though, but it'd have to be someone pretty rare like Coki or Daft Punk.

Beer is goddamn expensive in NYC. I saw Bassnectar twice; once at a fest in 2007, and once in 2008. Not my jam at all. I wound up leaving before the end of the set both times, and I was high as fuck both times as well. Different strokes. :shrug:

honestly i really know what you mean, i have a hard time traveling if bassnectars not there...i was gonna go to eff before a lineup dropped then i was like damn, that sucks...even tho i personally think the lineup blows, if bassnectar was there, id be goin

but yeah those aspen shows im just so fuckin jealous of...ever seen him in a small venue before? i was lucky enough to do it twice, and ill never be able to see it again i bet...the vibes are just ridiculous, he has so much more freedom and doesnt feel pressured to play all his popular tracks

first time i saw him he finishes his 2 hour set, goes on the mic and says "hey so i played my 2 hour set, so im just gonna stay up here til i get kicked off stage" and thats what he literally did...so he played one more hour and it was just completely him fucking around, trying new shit, like oh my god it was ridiculous, what a welcome to the edm world right? (first electronic show ever for me)


id honestly rather go to aspen then RR, honestly i wont be happy if its basically a glorified album release party, just cuz i really dont think his albums/EPs recently have been that great...i just love his shows
