Kind of weird, but I need to try to 'age' Scrabble tiles......

Long story short, I'm making something for my lady for our anniversary using a vintage Scrabble board. I had to buy a bunch of tiles from eBay to do the rest, but I'd like the tiles to try and look old, too, like the board.
They're one inch square wood tiles with black lettering. (I'm sure you know this, though.)

What can I do to try to age these fuckers you think?
Washing machine and dryer?
Set in the sun for a week?

It's due by mid July, so i have time, but as always, I turn to you, Shroomery. (a lot of commas in that sentence.)

Also, best adhesive to glue the tiles down to the board so they wont fall off eventually (it'll be vertical)

This is kind of what I'm going for, except using a shadow box frame and gluing to tile trays down on the bottom that says something, too.

Some of these ideas might 'theme' them a bit too much, so be careful and think about how far you want to go.  I would recommend doing it in small increments.  Also, I would use denatured alcohol instead of acetone to take off the gloss - just make sure you don't take off the paint of the letter on the tile with it!
