What's your favorite healthy snack food?

I am guilty of loving cheezits and shit like that that is horrible for my body- high calorie, high sodium, high fat, low fiber, low nutrition.

I need new tasty snack food ideas that are healthy.

I have recently discovered that celery + hummus is a delicious, low calorie, low fat, high fiber snack food.

What do you eat when you have the munchies but don't want to pack on the pounds?

I make a peanut butter sandwich with a banana in it, or I'll get an apple, cut it up and put a shit ton of peanut butter on it.

That healthy protein/fat/carb mix helps curb the hunger and it is good for ya! Tons of vitamin E, K and C.

I eat a lot of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries but they don't satiate my hunger very much

I don't really like nuts tbh

honestly cereal is usually a really high calorie snack if you eat a decent amount of it regardless of what kind you eat


i have granola cereal in the morning


i have never gone on a diet but the the biggest weight change i have noticed was when i stopped eating cereal after breakfast

I like the whole grain cheerios with organic milk, it's really good. I don't ever buy anything organic, but mmmmmmmm organic milk :tongue:

Neither me, but thats why i call them snacks! I go for bananas and apples usually anyway and they are more filling. Its generally not good to eat fruit with large amounts of protein and carbs anyway, so they are ideal for inbetween meals. Nuts wise I eat mostly pine nuts and cashews. Sometimes other variaties, but those two are my stables. Seeds are great too, I use them mostly in smoothies and for those I stick mostly to chia and flaxseeds.

Btw, as far as taste goes. I would never put something in my body unless it tasted good. :cool:

well it boils down to your serving size, the type of milk you use, and the actual ingredients of the cereal you are eating

cereal can be a perfectly suitable and healthy snack
anything can go from healthy to unhealthy with the wrong recipe

Well it won't kill you, or really you do much harm at all in the short term. But in short, you won't be getting the most from your food. Sugar is digested really quickly, but protein takes a long time. If your gut is full of undigested protein, then all this sugar sits on top and ferments, releasing nasty shit into your system and compromising your digestion. You want sugar to be able to pass through quickly, not sit around. And if your stomach is full of food, thats exactly what it will do.

Like I said, its not gonna do you a great deal of harm, but if you can avoid eating anything sugary for at least an hour after eating a thick cut of meat i'd highly suggest it. Your digestive system will thank you.

Walnuts, hazlenuts, almonds, brazil nuts, pecans, hickory nuts, black walnuts, filberts, cashews, certain varieties of acorn, and beech nuts as well as peanuts, although they are actually legumes.

Cashews are delicious. As are pecans.
With nuts you have to get good quality ones, or they aren't good.
