selling off my idiot box! how minimalist can one go?!

So somebody is comin to buy my 32" samsung for about 200 bones here in a bit. Never had cable anyway so whatever it was just for movies/xbox which I'm bored with. Which is nice it's the last big thing I know won't fit in my car with all my other stuff when I leave my job/this state. It's crazy to think all I'll have is what fits in my car. I love it. I'm not gonna buy a regular bed ever again most likely. Just gonna keep chillin on my air mattress and be the cheapest bastard ever. No TV, just internet/computer.

How much crap do ya'll own? Does it bug you to have to lug all that shit around? I personally love being so free and only having the few things I enjoy to carry around. Being lightweight is nice.

I used to do tons of drugs and had like a 19inch t.v. in my room, never got so much done musically as I did then

now If I'm bored its just like I'm going to watch movies/play videogames until four a.m. or spank it a couple times a day

see that's been my problem. sooo much fuckin time sunk into video games n shit. fallout, gta, whatever. it's just.. i mean not a complete waste cuz shit was fun but dayum. there are better things i could be doing. it's just hard out here in north dakota errybody owns a tv cuz if it's not 4 wheeling or hunting or some shit after work everyone just drinks and zones out with the tv.

All my possessions fit in a duffel bag (clothes, notebooks, guitar, camping gear).
Minus my bike, tent and sleeping bag.

I have no desire for more possessions outside of a new amp, boom stick, and microphone. Planning on buying a van and bumming out if it. Probably sell my computer and bike at that point... its tempting to just live off my bike though.

Not the lifestyle for everyone apparently but it suits me, I'm living the life I wanted since as far back as my memory goes.

I went like 6 months without cable and my only belongings were clothes, cd player and some instruments.... it was a long hazy 6 months. I still keep very few possessions but I like the stuff I do have.

it's nice to be minimalist though. funny how some people thinks that people who shun material things are accepting serfdom or some shit. i think that's hilarious as i am more free than most of them in all the ways that matter to me - they are bound up by bills and crap and can never get off the hamster wheel judging the hamster that shrugged and walked off it.

I'll never understand the appeal to hoarding stuff and allowing possessions to take such a prominent role in one's life, few of them seem to understand why anyone would want to live otherwise.

I have quite a few things, havin a house you start to collect shit haha and I found out that everything has its own special place and you have to find where it is... takes awhile.

i'd like a house, don't get me wrong. i'm still just trying to find where i want to live/work. north dakota has good $ but the winter i went through here was just awful, so i'm headin elsewhere for similar work - gonna try texas out, but first, skate trip cross country. :wooawesome:

I'd like a few acres of land and move a small trailer onto it eventually, build a deck around it for insulation / appearances. Little one room shack in the woods basically.

Lived on property like that before, we had several of them spread out on a few acres. Kind of my goal for the distance future, maybe get some roommates out there (with a good acre or more between our shacks), grow food and weed.

Sounds legit. I'd like somethin similar, or kinda like that + an earthship home. Maybe buy a welder and just get some shippin containers and build my own house. Entire kitchen outta stainless and oak or somethin :smug:
