Let me just preface this by saying if you aren't up for a long read, just click out of this thread right now. However, I feel like its a story worth telling.
I've been a recreational user of opiates for the better half of a decade. Opiates have always been a nice treat to me and used very sparingly. Ive been lucky that I don't have an addictive personality, and to be honest doing opiates two days in a row consecutively makes me feel downright sick.
On Friday I had a major hankering for the warm embracing opiate blanket. My usual friends that I can hit up for pills were dry, so I mustered up a plan to find Heroin. I've done heroin a dozen other times, and I see it no different as a good dose of oxycodone.
I saw two options both of which I have never attempted before:
1. Go downtown to the hood and source it that way
2. Contact someone advertising they have it for sale via Craiglist
I decided to go with option two, score dope from a stranger on Craiglist.
If you have never noticed before, there are dozens of ads up at a time of people offering their illegal warez, you just have to read between the lines to find it. This particular ad was offering chiva BLACK tires that are just right they are perfectly STICKY and make the user feel comfortable. While contacting this stranger I thought about the possible worst case scenarios. Firstly, it could be a cop. I decided in my huge urban city law enforcement wouldn't set up a trap like this trying to bust buyers. The more likely scenario I was afraid of was being robbed.
I begin my journey driving to a given cross street one hour drive from my house into the hood. Once there, the seller gave me an address to come to. Driving to this address I start to realize I am the only white boy in this neighborhood and I stick out. I arrive at the location and a cracked out hispanic guy covered with tattoos jumps in my car. He is borderline insane. Rolling the window up and down obsessively for no reason, extremely paranoid, and just downright not all there in the head.
The seller then tells me to drive down the block, I think to myself, we must be going on a safety drive out of fear I am a cop. We stop on a major cross street, and he tells me to roll down my window. This is when he begins to holler at the top of his lungs at a prostitute. She doesn't hear him so he says fuck it and tells me to make a right. This is when I begin to get super paranoid and realize things aren't right. I asked the seller “where are we going” and he said “just down the block to the pink building so I can pick it up for you, don't trip homie”
At this point I am extremely out of my comfort zone, and realizing I am likely about to get robbed. We park right next to a run down apartment building with bums and shady characters sitting infront of it. He asks for the $40 we agreed upon, and I protested saying I'm not looking to get jacked. The seller then argues I would sketch them out if I came inside, he would be right back out.
I realize then there is a 99% chance I am about to get robbed, but I said fuck it, I drove an hour out here, ill risk the $40 on the off chance that he actually wants to do right by me as to make me a repeat customer. I told him this. I told him I wanted to do this again so jacking me would be bad for business, he agrees, and off inside the building he goes.
I am left waiting there for hours. The only reason I didn't leave is was because he was in constant contact with me the whole time. It was always the same response “Just 5 more minutes, I am waiting on it”. I told myself if he was trying to jack me outright, he would have just turned and burned on me. So here I am, a white well to do kid, sitting in the hood for hours waiting on dope. There are prostitutes, transients, drug addicts, babies pushing babies in strollers, and just about every crazy thing you can imagine.

Three hours pass by and the seller finally emerges and jumps in my car. He is far more cracked out and even more out of his mind at this point. He tells me to drive around the block to the liquor store. “Do you have it” I asked “ya ya dont trip homie I just have to find $20” I realize then he went and bought crack with my money, and thought he was trying to find cash to make it up to me with a small amount of heroin. I didn't come all the way out there and wait all the time to leave empty handed. So I told him I have $20 left, but I am going up with you this time and I am making the deal. “Sure sure don't even trip” the seller tells me.
We begin the ascent into this apartment building and I realize just how seedy the place is. Each “apartment” is a single room with a bathroom, and each room was a drug den. As we are climbing the stairs, the seller is trying to pick up pebbles from the ground and smoke them as if they are crack, even though it is clear all he is picking up is dirt. The seller is peaking behind corners, doing weird rituals, and just acting completely psycho.
We get up to a room on the third floor and the seller knocks on a door. I heard loud music and anarchy coming from the room, and my heart rate went through the roof. A black lady answers the door and immediately becomes irate. “who this white boy you have in my hall” the lady screamed “get the fuck inside” another voice from inside answered. I step inside a room that I now realize is literally a crack den. There is a hot plate cooking up crack, a few ounces of crack sitting on the table, and cash all over the place. Inside was the ladies husband, a six foot tall huge black man covered in tattoos with eyes so cracked out he looked like a demon.
The demonic man is absolutely furious and out of his mind. He is extremely agitated the seller brought a stranger in his pad. He begins to think I could be undercover and starts playing 20 questions with me. Where I am from, how long ive know this guy, the whole nine yards. He rips my last $20 from me and then informs me that I was getting played by the seller the whole time, there is no heroin in this room, only crack. I say “ok sorry, im just going to leave now” and as im getting up the demonic man throws me back down and informs me im not going anywhere. Next, the demonic man yells “so guess what nigga, you just bought crack with your money” and throws a filled crack pipe right in my lap breaking the glass all over me. I realize at this point the best way to avoid smoking the crack and earning credibility with the crack dealers is to pretend like I am dope sick. The craiglist seller is still sitting here silent, and out of his mind.
Once the lady in the room realizes I am sick, she feels sympathy and calls over a heroin dealer from across the hall to pickup with my last $20. They lectured me telling me to never come back in their hood again, and told me people get killed for this kind of thing. While we are waiting on the heroin dealer to come, there are multiple crack customers coming in and out of the room. One crack customer exclaimed “I have to be quick I have a baby in the car, but treat me right, hook it up good”.
The heroin dealer finally arrives to the crack den, sells me balloons of tar for my $20 and disappears. The demonic crack dealer then tells me and the Craiglist seller to get the fuck out of his pad. As we both stand up, the demonic crack dealer beats the shit out of the Craiglist seller. He tells him to never pull this kind of shit again.
I hit the road, feeling like justice was atleast served. I was robbed $40, but his ass was beat for it. Atleast I received $20 of what I was looking for at the end of my trip. Not sure why the craiglist dealer even brought me up to the crack den or strung me along for as long as he did. Maybe he thought I'd buy him some more crack with the last $20?

Tl;dr: buyer beware on Craiglist. I won't be going into the hood to get drugs anymore.
This is only a quarter of what I witnessed, some of it feels straight out of a movie.
