Yeah, I think thats a good idea, Peyote6909. Some of those pictures are a bit confusing. If they were all in a certain section and had a description next to them it make finding certain pictures alot easier.

Actually if you hold your mouse cursor over the thumbnail for a pic, the description will show up in the status bar of your web browser. At least it does in Netscrape 3.0

I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer and all that shows up on it is the filename.

I was more or less talking about a more elaborate description rather than pulling a conclusion from a short filename.

Short descriptions are a great idea. People could send them in along with the pics. Barring that, perhaps the pictures could link to the techniques appropriate to them in the "Find or Grow Them" section. Unfortunately, Aphex hasn't posted to this thread one way or the other. How 'bout it man?

What exactly do you mean by a short description? Longer than the ones on them now? They DO show a description when you point the mouse over them, and I'm not talking about just a filename. It requires javascript and I know it works in Netscape and Opera. I don't use IE but it should display javascript the same way, shouldn't it?

you need a different java code so that it works with both IE and Netscape. I had that problem when i made a page once, some codes are designed to work with both browsers, some just with one. Have a look around for codes at HTML writers guild.

I use IE and only get the filename. Even if a short description is displayed already, a little more organization would be nice...

The status bar works fine for me, and I think it's just great!

I also think that the sub-categories would work nicely. In fact, a category tree would be the most user-friendly thing. For example, growing/casing/birdseed/cyanescens, etc.

I am almost positive you could find a free Java applet that would do the tree for you. All that is needed is to actually decide what goes where.

This would also solve another problem. Whenever I want to see the new pictures, I have to download a million old thumbnails to get to them.

A good temporary solution would be to put the newer ones at the top of the page. Or to have a "new" section, with cross-links so they also appear in "growing" or wherever they belong.
