incorrect.

Quote:
divinity is the state of things that come from a supernatural power or deity, such as a god

everything comes from god

:ducklol:

the quote i posted came from the first line of the wikipedia article you posted.

I caught it, but god isn't real.

And that's the only way you can argue that everything is divine.

Now that I think about it, "god did it" is usually the last argument in most debates like this.

actually that's not the only way.

because it's a fucking semantics debate

and the way that you define divine is OBVIOUSLY not the same way i define it.

how about we rephrase

"all things are of the same source"

is that new-agey enough for you?

You can't just change the definition of words to fit your argument.

I agree with that, in a hugely macro sense (something along the lines of a big bang), but don't understand the significance to divinity.

If you want to change the definition of god to "all things" so you can call those things godly, or divine, that's cool though.

Fucks sake can we just pick another similar word to describe the existence of a natural mathematical constant?

Is the speed of light divine?

i didnt. i quoted it straight from the source that you posted.

divinity does not necessitate the existence of god

Ok, I reread the wiki. Guess I don't agree with attributing laws of physics to divinity, as it puts a confusing stamp on what's actually  said, imo. Much like calling the Higgs Boson the god particle. Traditional usage deals with a god, godly behavior, or a relationship with that god or behavior.

Either way, I stand by my claim that it's simply evolution finding the most efficient way to do business. If that's divine, ok. But it's certainly not god.

k00laid has to be trolling.  This is one of the most idiotic threads / arguments I have ever read.  There is literally no consistency or organization of anything he has said.  It is just a bunch of completely unrelated statements.

Sorry to butt in : ) I think the number shows up enough that its noteworthy and says something about utilizing maximum efficiency.  But maybe not always. Almost all flowers have a number of pedals in the sequence.  Yes the number only is what it is. But even though a lot of things that were disproven as having the golden ratio a lot are really close appearing as if nature is reaching for that number as an end goal. Which kind of makes sense if you look at the fractal example.  I think it definitely  says something that the golden ratio is the perfect line at which infinity can exist

When a rocket exploded over my area, I watched search planes with a large, rotating disc. They flew in a nautilus-like pattern, so low that trees shuddered. To me, it seemed intuitive to look, but most people didn't bother.

In the thread, people say that mystics are only imagining the ratio.

You are making an assumption, that the ratio was never measured, objectively, repeatedly, ad nauseum.

And, you have never offered an alternative, which seems to appear, everywhere, especially in spiral-shaped patterns, or in waves.

People speculate as to whether phi is divine. My question is whether it can be random.

Or, is it an example of order.

Under the assumption of cause and effect, what is the first cause.

Or, if order tends toward disorder, over time, what is the higher order, which came first.

imho, if some form of intellegence is implied, the logical response is not the reflexive blindness of existential nihilism, but to learn the rules and establish a rapport.
