I live in an area where there are just way too many houses. I don't have wheels either. So driving an hour and a half away isn't an option.

Thread Update... he has been euthanized. I got him in a bag (AFTER LOSING IT AND HAVING TO CATCH IT AGAIN, my cat is SUCH a pussy) and made it a nice and easy target...

RIP, his death was quick and painless. I hope. I had to smack him twice because the shovel was broke FUCK.

Rip.

Only in Nazi Germany did they call beating to death with a shovel "euthanasia".

You killed it swiftly and positively, but euthanasia it was not.

How hard did you hit that the shovel broke, did you want to have it killed and buried in one move? :owned:

Anyhoo, problem solved except now you have a broken shovel.

That would just lead to an anguished drawn out death and would be animal cruelty.

Give it to the cat then.. .. was my first suggestion anyway.. or chew the mouses head off yourself.. but done is done.. I just thought it a good idea .. but a drawn out death I would have before a quick one.. I would follow my own morals.. how are we really to decide how something should die? The cat would torture it.. that seems natural, hell nature has been torturing it its entire life, to make it strong..

When dealing with needing to kill animals, I would think about how I would wish to die, were I the one to be killed. I would like to bleed to death, or fight to death..

The mouse will be in survival mode and the cat will not be in hunting mode, so the mouse will escape. Cats need to warm up to hunting. Their whole posture changes, their pupils dilate as they are pumped and resdy to chase, paw and bite, by that time the mouse is long gone.

Flushing it down the toilet assures it's death if none of you caught that.

At least have some goddamn respect and smash the poor animal's brains in before you flush it.

Yeah dude, flushing it live is pretty cruel.

I would have preferred to shoot it in the face. But using a 22 in my backyard would get some police called probably, haha.

Anyways I probably would have missed!

Do you have a septic tank, or are you connected to a sewer system?

It's a house. Sewers. That would have been a horrible idea.

Actually the mouse may have been able to survive in a sewer system, as they, along with rats and snakes are known to enter people's houses through it. But I still don't know how cruel it would be, to many factors at play.

Well I wanted to give it a fighting shot, everyone just assumed it was going to drown a slow death. It may have.

But then again... if it did survive it just became someone else's problem. I'm a good neighbor. I just don't have statefarm.

You did pretty well, there is a decent chance it would have drowned or gotten stuck in a pipe as well.

By the time I find the mouse the cats have killed it.  How much they tortured it first is unknown

I don't know why the cat wouldn't just kill it. I had to take over the situation. What gives?

All cats play with their prey before they kill it.

Rats have recently moved into my attic. I've got 3 regular snap traps and 2 d-con things up there. They ignore the poison, but the traps have killed 4 of those fuckers so far. I suspect its a family that's been caught.

walk it a block down and then let it go, you don't have to kill the little guy.
