Anyone here ever been to Nimbin and Byron bay? * 1

I have heard so many things about these places. I heard that you can pick up almost anything. Anyone have any cool stores and tips for these places?

I have been to those places a few times. In Nimbin they have a shop just for trippers. Like part of it is rooms with psychadelic pictures all over the walls and little holes you can look through and wierd bits of writing and quotes on the walls. There's lots of hippy shops in both Nimbin and Byron Bay. I'd advise you go to Byron sooner rather than later because it is becoming more commercialised all the time. The Arts Factory in Byron is a cool place to stay. They have backpacker's hostels and tent sites. They have a band venue there too and lots of cool activities all the time and it's really close to town. I stayed at that place for a month once. You can work an hour or two a day for your tent site cost if you want too. Really beautiful rainforest bushwork around Cape Byron also. Nice guided rainforest walk at Nimbin too. Good place for a holiday IMO. Are you an Aussie?  :smile:

nope. A brit/american. I will be going there quite soon. I heard loads of cool stuff about both those places. Since it is really hippified I hope they have smokeable DMT!

If you'e trying to pick up drugs there, I heard there are usually some people just hanging around on the main street of Nimbin (there's only one street throught the centre of the town with shops on it) and it's pretty easy to pick dealers. Or ask in the Sunshine Cafe and that trippy shop - they might know somebody. In Byron I wouldn't know who to talk to. I'd maybe approach the more feral looking locals.

I live in Australia, and although I havent had the opportunity to visit either of those places, some good friends of mine have.

I know that they had absolutely no problem getting "hooked up" in Nimbin. Literally within 5 minutes of stopping in the place someone came up to them and asked if they wanted anything.

Im not sure what the situation is like in Byron. I do know that unfortunately its turning into a yupee town, cafes have sprung up everywhere and that all the land values have ski-rocketed. Not to say that it isnt still a great place to visit!

Byron and Nimbin are absolutely beautiful - although I do agree it is getting more and more commercialized as each day goes past - so sad! When I first went there about 6 years ago it was the beginning of the huge rush. But it is still fantastic nonetheless and will remain so for a while! I can't say I found too many drugs in Byron... however Nimbin is another story!
The drive to Nimbin is amazing - the scenery is so green - and if you have had a few mushrooms on the way it is even better. Last time I went there I was asked if i wanted anything before I got out of the car! You can't walk more than 10 metres without being offered something. Didn't find any DMT but there was hash, cookies, mushrooms, acid and lots and lots of pot. Just ask around - the people there seemed happy to help each other out. If you are getting pot make sure it is good - theres lots of dodgy stuff around.

I think your best bet for DMT would be to go maybe to the market at 'the channon' (its on one sunday a month) as i hear this is the best place to go....

From what I've heard the drug scene in nimbin has been cracked down a bit and you'll be overcharged for weed. Apparently Byron is also pretty commercial these days as well. I haven't been to either of them though

Plan to take a trip to nimbin/byron from Melbourne. I have heard good things about both from friends but i have heard a few stories of junkies ripping people off for bud in Nimbin but hey, keep ya wits up should be sweet.

I was there at the start of the year - Arts Factory is pretty great, really cool place to stay.

As far as buying drugs in Nimbin goes... you're probably going to get ripped off by bogans, junkies or deadbeat hippies.  That's been my experience and the experience of a few others.  Many friends I have are sorta drug tourists, ie. they don't normally buy, so they don't realise they are being ripped off.

The area is BEAUTIFUL!!!  However, people are right in saying that Byron Bay is quite a commercial mecca. 

Personally, I'd recommend you head to the Far-South NSW coast - Central Tilba, Mogo, Tathra, Merimbula, Narooma, Candelo... it's quieter down there, it's quite alternative, the scenery is SPECTACULAR.. there are some amazing shops and markets, and the vibe of the place is just grand!!!

I have been many times this year alone...it has changed alot, not really for the better.
Just watch out, don't let desperation make you buy off the first guy you meet, and watch out for the little short dude who wears an camo backpack..cant remember his name..
But he is short and looks like a junkie...you can get pretty much anything off him if you are prepared to pay too much and the quality is bad.

old mate there looks like willy nelson really nice bloke will help you out, you can see him roaming around anywhere..he just expects a little cut of the weed if you buy any which is air as he sourced it for you.
