When did I say there's a difference? I'm just not arguing against the fact that Dylan is going to suck major dickory live in concert for the reasons NWlight presented. You're arguing that no current bands suffice and I'm just telling you that you need to delve a little deeper.

I listen to plenty of newer bands and a few are decent but they don't have anything on the originals.

Bob Dylan wasn't an original. He was a revivalist of folk music with a political spin. He's an absolute legend, but he didn't come up with that style on his own. Just as current bands are following a genre/artist and adding in a sound that brings something new to the table, Bob Dylan followed those before him.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that Bob Dylan didn't invent folk music like it's something I didn't already know?

Nobody is an absolute original playing straight forward folk music it's traditional songs constantly being reinterpreted but as far as rock and roll he definitely broke some new ground and I would say he was a true original.

Okay and the point I'm trying to get across is that newer bands are reinterpreting music of the 60s-70s and giving it a new sound, doing exactly what Bob Dylan did to Robert Johnson, Woody Guthrie, and the like. A handful of current bands are doing something revolutionary and aren't getting the respect they deserve. I'm glad Bob Dylan acknowledges the greatness of MMJ & Wilco. He's passing the torch

What do you care if wilco isn't getting the respect they deserve on a drug message board in a thread about Bob Dylan? Jesus buy a t-shirt or something don't lecture me about why I shouldn't enjoy classic rock more than your favorite new band or whatever.

Never have I heard such bullshit in my entire life, today's music has no culture it's just a bunch of bleeps and bloops with an angry black guy or nerdy white kid rapping at you or even worse revivalist rock music that basically steals their shit from greats like Bob.

I'm saying it's unfortunate that people think current music is no better than ^
