Could someone PLEASE tell me a link that has some step by step instructions of how to hook up and use two hard drives at once? Or how to do it? In a manner that I can understand? I've looked but its all confusing and shit. Please help. also, you guys think a 96mb/300mhz p2 (runs like my 800mhz athlon did..) could run xp?

Get more memory. 256megs and xp will be fine.
to run 2 HDs:
If they are on the same controller, then yoiu must set the jumpers on each drive so that one is master, one is slave.
If they are on diferent cables, then each can be a master.
If a hard drive and a cd-rom drive are on the same cable, make the CD the slave.
check ou the tomshardware.com link someone posted on here today about building your own PC. that site rules.

Whilst it is possible to run two HD's from one IDE connection on the MoBo, you'll have data corruption occuring on the slave, due to bandwidth issues.. (trust me, I tried this, and this is what the Tech support people told me) So you have two options; run them from separate IDE connection on the MoBo, provided you have two on your MoBo, or (what I would do) is get a RAID controller card (they're not expensive) and you can add another HD that way, with settings to "stripe". As to running XP, in addition to the aforementioned RAM addition, your processor is a bit slow to running XP..you might want to consider running an earlier version of Windows, or some flavour of Linux. Hope that helps!

I run 3 hard drives, plus 2 CD drives (one is a burner) by using an add-in controller card plus the ones on the board. Gives me 4 controllers alltogether.

I slave one hard drive off of the other and I have never had any problems. Of course, I'm usually not doing stuff involving a lot of data on both hard drives at the same time.

You do not want to run xp with only 92 mb of memory. Get more memory!

I've never had any problems with that either. I split them up for speed when burning. I wanted my system and swap drives on a different bus than the data drive and my IDE burner.
Works like a charm

That would work! Of course, he may not want to be switching things around, though.
